Hello,

Im a DBA Consultant doing some work for a client (Travelclick.com) and have been having problems with SSH access to GCP Instances after my account was re-added.

I get the following error on hosts I could previously log into as well as new ones I have never logged into:
ERROR: (gcloud.compute.ssh) FAILED_PRECONDITION: The specified username or UID is not unique within given system ID.

My login for the client is kpe...@travelclick.com

Based on this discussion, it seems like it could be an internal issue:

Thanks,
     Kevin.

Hi,

Is OSLogin enabled? If so, then yes, it could be related to an internal issue. The workaround right now is to manually clear the account at the time of deletion. You can do this by following the instructions within the attached article [1]

Hi Kevin,

If the account recently converted from a consumer account into a Cloud Identity (G Suite) account, it is most likely a recurrence of the issue. A team is working on a fix to prevent this inconvenience, but for now we will have to perform the fix.

Please send me an email with the user accounts running into this issue (it would likely impact any user account with POSIX information configured who then converted to a Cloud Identity managed user) and I can have the fix applied.

Max
