Hi,

I have to create a NAS server on Google GCE and I see that there is a preset template Single node file server in Cloud Launcher section.

Anyone can tell me if it's best to use this template or (if it's possible) create a VM from scratch to make it work as a NAS server

Thanks

Marco

Hello Marco,

As each individual configuration for each user is different, It really depends on your preference on cost, performance and scalability. Single Node File Server is favored because of how it is easy as click-to- deploy. From cloud launcher, you would simply need to select the type of resources you prefer to have a fully functional file server. Benefits and disadvantage of running Virtual NAS is discussed here . If you prefer you can certainly set this configuration from scratch.
