Hi All,

I am new to Google Cloud, I am trying to provision a cluster for my data science project, I have followed all steps in below document but encounter difficult in step 1) create an ssh tunnel 2) Configure your browser 3) Connect to the notebook interface

My issue:
1) I tried different ways to create ssh tunnel, successfully create tunnel via putty
2) I configured my browser either via script provided for google chrome or change settings in firefox -- in the "socks host" section, I tried "localhost" and ip address of cluster master
3) when I tried to connect to notebook interface via http://cluster-(actual name)-m:port , error showing could not find server
by the way, I found when I change settings in firefox, I could not open other website as well.

Appreciate if anybody can help!!

Thanks,
Ling

Hi,

Could you clarify if the linked tutorial is the actual one you are referring to? To access the Jupyter notebook, there is no need to create an ssh tunnel through putty. On the Google Cloud Console, when selecting the created Dataproc cluster, you will find a “Web Interface” tab from which you can easily access the created notebooks by clicking the Jupyter link.
