wordpress: WP ADMIN SERVER ERROR 500

I have wordpress running on google cloud engine.

Everything was working fine until I installed one plugin. Now, I can't login to wp-admin. I get the "server error 500" error.

I am trying to delete the plugin by FTP/ssh ing using FILEZILLA, but I can remove or rename any files - I get the "permission denied error"

Can any one help me on this?

Is this a Google Click to Deploy WordPress or Bitnami WordPress? Would you provide what plugin did you install and what steps did you take to install it?

This was a Google Click Deploy.

Plugin installed was landing-page.

Steps :  From dashboard, click plugins and add new plugin - nothing fancy

Is there any way I can delete this from the folder or even rename plgings folder temporarily?

Two approaches for deactivating plugins of WordPress are described in WordPress FAQ Troubleshooting article. However, as you could not use ftp client to remove the directory and files, try using SSH connection. On the Developers Console go to Compute Engine page and find your WordPress VM instance, click on SSH button next to it and connect to VM via SSH web client. Then run the following command:

$ cd /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins

Find directory name of the problematic plugin:

$ ls

And remove it

$ sudo rm -r <plugin's directory name>

Now try to login to your WordPress admin panel.
