The documentation here:

is out of date (i submitted feedback) as I would assume that ubuntu 20.04 should be included in that list.

When I select a debian 10 buster image for an instance and then add an additional local ssd it automatically selects NVMe.  Does debian 10 have NVMe optimized drivers?

Hello Matthew,

In terms of setting up a GCE instance with Debian GNU/Linux 10 (Buster) image with an additional local SSD, GCP offers the ability to set up either SCSI or NVMe. However, if you plan to use NVMe type, you must keep in mind that for optimal NVMe performance, the boot disk image for your instance must include optimized NVMe drivers as well. You can learn about about this by reviewing the following documentation on selecting the NVMe or SCSI interfaces.

Additionally, if we review the documentation above, it states that for NVMe-optimized public images with their drivers are only offered to these images below:
1. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS image ubuntu-1404-trusty-v20170110 and later, or image family ubuntu-1404-lts
2. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS imageubuntu-1604-xenial-v20170113 and later, or image family ubuntu-1604-lts
3. Ubuntu 17.10 image family ubuntu-1710
4. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS image family ubuntu-1804-lts

With the information above, this does not mean that you cannot use NVMe on Debian GNU/Linux 10, it just means that the images above include the optimized drivers that allow your instance to achieve the best performance over NVMe, but you can still use use NVMe on Debian GNU/Linux 10.

And you think the documentation is up to date?  Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't have them even though every LTS version does?
