Dear experts,

I am checking my latest invoice and could anyone explain to me what's the following two items for?
  • Compute Engine - SSD backed PD Capacity ($2.55)
  • Cloud SQL - Storage PD HDD for DB in Americas ($0.90)

How could i disable them as my only objective to stick with Google cloud, is to host my domain only.

Thanks in million!

Regards,
weilies

Hello Weilies,

The first item: 'Compute Engine - SSD backed PD Capacity' is related to the charges incurred for the compute engine Persistent disk SSD.
Please note, stopped VMs no longer generate the $/hr cost of a running VM, but PDs and PD SSDs associated with a stopped instance are still billed at the normal block storage rates. For more information on billing of stopped instances, refer to this documentation link

The other item: 'Cloud SQL - Storage PD HDD for DB in Americas' is related to the charges incurred for the disk attached to the Cloud SQL instance. Refer to this documentation link for the pricing table related to the Cloud SQL storage.

If you are hosting website on the GCE VM instance with the disk attached or even unused disk, disk storage charges will be applicable as per the pricing. In order to avoid the charges, it will require to delete the resources that are applicable to the charges.

You can host use Google Cloud DNS to host the domain name. For pricing information, refer to this documentation link. Also, you can check this third party blog providing detailed information on transferring domain name to Google Cloud DNS.

I hope it helps.
