Hi,

I am trying to setup the SSL certificate for my site, i have followed the step by step process mentioned in the Google cloud help center.

I have followed the steps and successfully uploaded the private key and other files and set https 443 in network.

But now when I try to load my site with https my site not working.

I check my SSL certificate on sslshopper tools it says
No SSL certificates were found on mysite.com. Make sure that the name resolves to the correct server and that the SSL port (default is 443) is open on your server's firewall.

Request you to kindly help me to fix this.

Hello Mohammed,

Which article have you used with the steps? What is the error you're getting when accessing the site with HTTPs? On your GCE instance make sure your webserver is listening on port 443.

I hope that helps.

Hi,

I am having the exact same issues described above.

After purchasing a certificate using we used the steps described in the ‘Create an SslCertificate resource’ section and have our Network Firewall rules set up as described too.
The error I am receiving in Chrome is ‘This webpage is not available ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED’ so it sounds like it’s not even finding the server so perhaps it is a firewall problem?

Thanks for any help

Hello,

Steps mentioned in the article you have provided are to setup SSL for Google HTTPS load balancer and not your GCE instance. Have you configured your webserver running on GCE instance to accept HTTPS traffic ? Is your webserver listening on port 443 ?

Thanks

Faizan

Hi Faizan,

Yes i have also configured my webserver to accept HTTPS traffic and i have port with 443 already set up. Please check the below screen shots.

Kindly let me know if i have done anything wrong, also request you to send me any blog post or article to follow to set up https for the site.

Hi Faizan,

Exactly as with Mohammed, I have also configured the instance to accept HTTPS traffic and the web server is listening on port 443 but am receiving the exact same problem when trying to visit my site using https.

Is there a better article to use for this implementation?

Kind Regards,

Stuart

Hello,

Are you using Google HTTPs load balancer in your setup or you are serving the HTTPs traffic from your instance directly ? If you are serving the traffic from your instance directly you need setup the certificate on your instance only. You can refer to this link which has the steps for Ubuntu.

Thanks

Faizan

Hello Mohammed,

What is the error you are getting when accessing the HTTPS site? Do you have any firewall(e.g. iptables, Windows firewall etc) configured on your instance? Make sure you have allowed the HTTPS traffic in GCE network firewall (if you have tags configured make sure the tags are applied to your instance). Also make sure you are listening on port 443.

Thanks

Faizan

Hi Faizan,

Yes i have allowed HTTPS in GCE and have port set as 443. I have also attached the screen shot. I am able to access my site http://buytokri.com but i am not able to access with https://buytokri.com

Request you to please let us know to set up and configure our server to work my site with securely.

Hello Mohammed,

Is your webserver (nginx, apache, etc...) listening on the 443 port?

Sincerely,
George

I have the exact same problems ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I mean, seriously, are some simple instructions to install SSL on an instance beyond Google? Or are your minds simply too advanced to deal with us mere mortals?
