Dear ,
I used CloudEndure to migrate our Ubuntu server to GCP, the migration is done well.
But, i can not login ssh event using Web ssh and Google shell , it show this message:
The VM guest environment is outdated and only supports the deprecated 'sshKeys' metadata item. Please follow the steps here to update.

So , please advice how to install guest envrionment since i still have SSH issue ?
How to fix this ?
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

Seems like a Linux guest environment is missing. You can follow the below steps as provided in our public issue tracker which might help you resolve the issue.

  1. Stop the instance

  2. Create a snapshot of the instance

  3. Create a new disk from the snapshot and

  4. Attach the disk to another new instance

I hope this helps.

Good afternoon,

I am also suffering this issue, its since my free-trial expired. All billing items are settled so i know its not a commercial issue.

I have performed your steps but its still recurring.

I have tried:

1. Generate new instances and log into them.Works fine.

2. Make a clone of the system, but this only copies the structure of the system and not the files. - Logs in but no files.

3. I have tried recreating an instance based off a snapshot of the drive I cant access.I get the same message as before.

4. I have tried recreating an instance based off an image i have derived from the drive i cant access. I get the same message as before.

The link on the modal box seems to imply making changes to the OS within the image/disk. I can't log on to it to make these changes.

I am locked out for all intents and purposes.

The instance is running as I can access the apache holding page via the public IP.

I just cant SSH into it.

Please help. I have a lot of work the other side of the SSH terminal i need to access.

Joe
