Hi my site crashed while trying to log in to wordpress.  I tried to access site through google cloud ssh but couldn't.   cpu monitoring shows that the instance was running at 100% for 2 hours before I tried to access. this normally runs at 5 -10% max.

so I did a reboot after which I couldn't access through ssh.

Hi,

As you mentioned that the instance was running at 100% for two hours before you tried to access it, leads me to believe that (one of your instance applications/jobs or a great number of connections to your website as you’re using WordPress to host your website) maybe draining your instance resources. I would recommend that you view the instance serial console logs to search for any issues that may occur in that time frame.

You may also need to give your instance some time to finish starting up as you mentioned that you rebooted the instance.

I would recommend that you visit our guide for tips and approaches to troubleshoot and resolve common SSH issues.

I would also recommend you to try to ssh into the VM with --verbosity option and check the output looking for any failure or warning during the ssh establishment connection.

As a side note and because you’re using our platform to host your website. I would suggest this article[4] about how to host a website on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
