Today change the size of my VM, memory and processor.

When doing this I did not mark the previous external IP as static.

So the IP change and I want to go back to the previous one.

I have tried from the gcloud console but it tells me that the IP I want to assign was not found in the "us-central1" region.

These were the steps I took after what happened in windows:

gcloud compute instances delete-access-config [SERVER_INSTANCE] --access-config-name [CONFIG_NAME]

then:

gcloud compute instances add-access-config [SERVER_INSTANCE] --access-config-name [CONFIG_NAME] --address [OLD_IP]

if i run:

gcloud compute addresses list

the output is Listed 0 items.

I have tried with all the regions that are listed, but in all it gives me the same problem

It is very important to recover that IP(OLD_IP)

From already thank you very much for the help

Hello Fernando,

Unfortunately its not possible to recover the ephemeral IP that was assigned to your instance. Ephemeral external IP address are released from a resource if you delete the resource or if you stop the instance. This information is documented here under the heading "Ephemeral external IP addresses":

Ephemeral external IP address are released from a resource if you delete the resource. For VM instances, if you stop the instance, the IP address is also released. Once you restart the instance, it is assigned a new ephemeral external IP address.

For future reference you need to make to reserve the IP as static before stopping the VM. I hope that helps.

Hi Faizan,

Can I reclaim a static IP which I released accidentally.

Thank you in advance.

As described in this article if you release an external static IP address, the address is returned to the pool of available addresses for other projects.
