Hi, have reached out to Firebase Support and they have redirected me to GCS support assistance.

I am trying to upgrade my spark to Blaze plan and with reference to that I am unable to add my Billing account to the Google cloud then activate Google Cloud Functions

below is the Error message

Error: Your project MyProject-3d4e5 must be on the Blaze (pay-as-you-go) plan to complete this command. Required API cloudbuild.googleapis.com can't be enabled until the upgrade is complete. To upgrade, visit the following URL:

I have reached out to Bank and they asked me to check with merchant (which is google cloud)  I understand these are happening due to the new RBI guidelines but what is the alternate payment methods and process of adding new billing accounts to Google cloud in order to use the features and functionalities.

can someone help, guide and advise, please?

Many thanks in advance!!

Have a wonderful day

Hello Balaji,

First, as you can see in the official pricing page there is no way you can use the Firebase cloud functions for free.
You need the Blaze plan in order to use Cloud Functions, however, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to pay for Cloud Functions usage as there's a significant free tier.

Second, these are payment methods you can add to your payments profile, also check this document for more details.

Hello Ahmad,

many thanks for the response

Yes, I am in total agreement that for Cloud functions I need to upgrade to Blaze but I am afraid that your response is not answering my question

please carefully read the below message from the link that you gave me

Effective April 1, 2021, for customers in India: Due to new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, your bank might begin declining automatic card charges for recurring payments for your Google Cloud usage. To avoid interruptions in service, if your automatic payments are being declined, we recommend that you make a manual payment for your usage.

I am unable to do the payments thru manual payment as well for the usage that means I am not able to add the billing account to do the manual payments is what my exact concern

Google's resolution is also mis-leading in this case for the developers in India

earlier their was auto recurring payment functionality available from google but due to the policy changes from RBI now Google have become unfriendly place for developers, since they are not lifting the auto recurring payment options for developers.
even if the developer wanted to use the paid version still it is a road block because none able to add a new billing account in the payment profile

Please check the below error message that google is unable to verify the payment from my bank account if you try to upgrade from Spark to Blaze using payment profile as per the Manual Payment link

All I want is to learn if there is any alternative way to do the billing account and upgrade to Blaze account, please help

Looking forward for your support on this, many thanks

Many thanks, Balaji Hariharan

Hello,

By checking the information available under Cloud-Billing  accounts, I also noticed that some debit cards might not be an acceptable form of payment for Cloud Billing Accounts.  So if you are using such debit cards for the payment, it could also cause a trouble during the payment.

That's being said, to get better understanding/clarification on this concern,  I would strongly recommend you to contact the 'Cloud Billing Support' by following this help center article.  The cloud billing team will be able to assist you with any issues connected with your billing, especially the payment issues.

For an issue connected with the upgrade of blaze account, I believe you need to get in touch with the billing support of Firebase

I hope this helps.
