is there a way in 2018 to activate Windows 2016 Server with Google KMS, but without the use of a external IP Address?
regards

As per the documentation on licensing for Windows Server images, you need to have a network connection to ‘kms.windows.googlecloud.com’ to activate the Windows Server images. And also for this authentication purpose, you need to create an external IP for your Windows instance as well.

hi digil
i mean i read on a post, that google will change that, so that you can do that without a extra external ip address? i mean it is a risk to attach external ip address and also it cost money. is there no other way in 2018?

As I have mentioned earlier, you need to have an external IP address on your Windows instance for authentication. You won't be get charged for this 'static external IP address' as long as it is attached to a Google Cloud Platform resource.

That's being said, the authentication without external IP address seems like a new feature on the GCP platform. You can always request for this feature using the 'Issue Tracker' (while opening the request, include your use-case scenario as well) link.
