Getting this progress information trying to launch and test a machine migrated from an on-prem workload. Storage disk on the on-prem server was approx 2TB although less than 5% of that was being used thus the migration

Hello,

Please request an increase of the DISKS_TOTAL_GB quota from GCP and then re-try launching the target VM.

Hello Eliud,

You can request additional quota from the Quota page at the GCP Console. As advised by Leonid, you can try the migration after getting the required quota.

Thanks Leonid and Rahi. How do i know by how much to increase and does this affect the free trial on GCP?

Looks like i have used 1,884 GB (1.88 TB) 2,048 GB (2.048 TB). Also seeing "You can't request an increase until you upgrade your free trial account." which makes no sense since i just need to migrate my tiny on-prem instance which will not be requiring more than 20GB disk in the first place. Is this how things work for everyone?

Hi Eliud,

In your first message, you mentioned that the storage disk at the on-premise server is approx 2TB. However, as a free trial account, your disk requirement is above the Quota you are allocated which you already identified from the Quota page of the Cloud Console. There is a limitation of Quota when you are enjoying free trial. You can find the details at this link. Unfortunately, you will not be able to request for additional Quota as long as you upgrade your free trial account to paid account. As you mentioned less than 5% of your disk is currently in use at your on-premise server thus I would recommend using smaller disk size which falls within the Quota and then try the migration again.
