Greetings Google Cloud Platform users,
We wanted to make sure you saw the big news regarding Google Compute Engine moving to General Availability (GA). This is a major milestone for the Compute Engine Team that comes with several new features, lower prices, and the release of the full v1 Compute Engine API.
Compute Engine GA Changes
Expanded operating system support, including off-the-shelf Linux distributions and non-Linux operating systems
Transparent maintenance with live migration and automatic restarts in our US zones
10% lower prices for standard instances
Release of the full v1 API
v1 API Release and v1beta16 Deprecation
Today we’re releasing the full v1 Compute Engine API and have now deprecated v1beta16. We encourage customers to switch to v1. We will keep v1beta16 available until March 4, 2014. The new v1 API will have a one year deprecation policy. We’ve also provided a v1 transition guide to help guide you on the switch over to v1. More details about changes in v1 can be found in the release notes.
Note that our instances with scratch disk are now deprecated and will be removed on March 4, 2014. Our recent changes to Persistent Disk make it an effective replacement for scratch disk, with great features like snapshots and hot attach and detach. Please consult our v1 transition guide for additional details on how to make the switch.

Thanks, and happy computing! As always, please send us any feedback via the normal channels.
