Hello,

I would suggest adding a filter option next to the “Character B:” field, something like:

“Filter to the same language as Character A”

Disabled by default, but when enabled, it would filter the Character B list to the same language as the selected Character A.

Optionally, a checkbox could also be added to "Remember my choice" to save in a cookie the option to "Filter for the same language".

Best Regards,

João Clérigo

I already thought about something like this, i.e. filter the language of
the character according to the relation type.

As far as I see, it is either unclear which language (orig published as
/ republished as) or the same language (for all other relation types) ?

My idea was something like:

I would use for all relation types Character A language to filter out Character B.

I get your idea, but my point is that we don't need such a user
selection if the system uses the language of A (and depending on the
relation type) to filter in B. Same effect.

For orig published as / republished as you don't want to filter based on
the language of A.

Agree... but with the filter switch you are giving the freedom of choice for using or not using that filter. Eitherway it will be very useful.

For orig published as / republished as filter must be disabled. If using filter switch it could be done using javascript.

Freedom here is not needed, either you need the filter or not, depending
on the relation type.
