Hello, I have been of of the loop for the past few years with family issues and have not noticed anything new to this idea. I was wondering if anyone has a update or knows if this has moved forward at all in the past 4+ years. I really wanted this to mature into something but as far as I can tell, as of now nothing has happened. An new update would me amazing if there is one.

No updates on this portion of things Steven. The GCD had to hire an outside developer to build our creator database, and that is nearing development end, I hope. And the Collection tracker MyComic.org is in Beta, and out new Board Chair has other agenda focus on trying to develop the main webpage, getting newer members to join us and improve our branding.
So it is on the wishlist agenda, but cannot be done until the Creator Tables are finished first. And after that, we will need to probably outsource development help again for it.
So, yes its planned but no its not ready to start yet.

There are several components to the strip database and many of them can be shared with the comic book database. So the creator table Ray mentions is something required by the strip database. Should be ready to roll out by the end of summer. Also need a character database, for which a requirements doc has been drafted. I'm hoping that can be in place by the end of summer next year. Syndicates database will probably be up this year. Those are all stepping stones to the strip database. Once those are in place, I think we'll be in a position to move forward on the strip database itself. If I had to guess, I'd estimate 2018.

Hello gang, has there been any new progress on this in the past year? Wanted to see if there was any light on this yet? Newspaper comics is my thing but programming is not.

No progress Steven, We are still trying to get the Creator tables integrated into the database and there is at least two other things that need to be addressed by the couple folks handling development of the website even before they try to tackle the comic strip database.
The Board though, has begun to inquire what kind of costs it would take for us to fund raise to hire outside tech help to do these things and maybe even rebuild the entire site and database from scratch to have it do all we like it to. But that is just in the exploratory process right now.
