Hi all

I am doing my own business research on Cloud Computing and found
Google App Engine (GAE).

Basically, using that service will make hardware worries disappear, as
the application and DB are hosted in Google's network and will scale
automatically.

Using GAE will require code changes in DB queries (it uses it's own
SQL-like language GQL, with some limitations to help scalation and
fail-over), but all our Django app should work with almost no
modifications.

It's a free service for the first 5 million page views, and their fees
for additional storage, bandwidth, or CPU cycles are cheaper than
other Cloud Computing services (like Amazon's AWS).

Its main disadvantage is that it is Google's technology and the
service or the software platform could change in the future and get
lock or become expensive.

I plan to start doing my own small stuff that could be easily moved
away if I decide stop using GAE, but I will keep you updated on what I
think/feel about GAE.

Cheers,

Andrés
