We've got three left to consider. Before writing up an entry for each
of these, I thought we would see if there is any support for them.

Period

This is a current genre.

In general it is applied to stories set in a time prior to the time of
the stories writing/publishing.

It has been objected that this is not a genre as there is no narrative
element that unites these stories.

I think period is a temporary fix since we do not have keywords. I
have had to use it but would rather it go away

The use to which this one has been put will be better served by keywords.

Keywords have been approved and they're now on the list of things for
tech to get to when they get a chance or a hankering.

I'll back the removal of "period"

If we remove period, we have to replace it with something.   there are a lot of features labeled period.

I don't think the other two are genres.  I'm not wild about the name "period" (I'd prefer "historical"), but I *do* think it represents a valid genre--though, admitedly, most often it requires an additional genre to be meaningful.  I guess I'm kind of on the fence about this one.

Historical is a much better name.  The alternative is a separate genre for each period.  Arthurian, Victorian, Depression, gaslight, colonial, etc etc.
