I recently received the attached letter from the IRS regarding
overpayment and refund for 2022 tax year. I honestly do not know what
the IRS letter is for, as we had closed all dealings with back taxes
last year and all transactions (refunds and payments) had zeroed out by
the end of 2022. I suspect I will need to call either our accountant or
the IRS to figure that out. But, as the IRS notes they credited it to
other taxes and we owe nothing at this time, I may just wait for further
letters to see if they can explain the situation.

In reading the notice, it appears that the overpayment and interest were applied to our 2018 Form 990T, which is the form that non-profit organizations file to report income that’s unrelated to their exempt purposes.
We’d need copies of that return and any adjustment letters sent by the IRS to understand what income we reported and what tax, penalties, or interest we owe. Reaching out to our accountant is probably the best first step.
