Maybe it is time to put an end to anonymous indexer registration?

At least "Jeff Comics" were all together in a bundle in my email reader.
Maybe we should make it slightly more difficult to make an account?
Such as we send them an email with more questions, and we won't put them on our lists until they respond?
or something like that.

I think the idea of a two step process has merit. I have no
idea how we could set that up technically. I don't know of any
questions we might ask, but think our reply could be something
simple such as, "We have received your request to open an account
with the Grand Comics Database. This account will allow you to
submit changes to our data, under supervision. It has no other
purpose, as search and display of the website is freely available to
anyone. If you wish to continue and create the account, please
reply to this e-mail."
It might cut down on the new accounts that are never used. I've never understood why people even open those.

That would be better, in my opinion anyway. All the Jeff Comics were preceded by a few registrations of just random letter names which I can’t imagine equate to anything good.

Adding a step that sends an email to the new indexer with a link to confirm the email address would prevent some false accounts.
Adding two-factor authentication or a phone number would prevent more.

But that wording doesn't work to separate the possible indexers
from.those who just like to register or send email bombs.
Maybe it would be better to just put these forms on a page in the
database and not send them out via email?
Or appoint someone to read them, and forward the better (or funnier?)
ones to an email list?

mail readers would have all 100 as separate items.
I try to search for and delete "new indexer" emails daily, but going
on vacation can clog my inbox.
