Chair's Board report for the 2nd quarter of 2026

Chair's Board report for the 2nd quarter of 2026:
    There was no new discussion of long-range goals for the GCD.

    There were no significant new contacts regarding commercial use of our data this quarter.  We did receive some interest in using our data from people writing personal software.

    I have recently reviewed our ongoing efforts for our main project of cataloging comics data and found that we have about 371 indexers who had changes approved during the quarter.  This is about 40 more than the previous quarter.

    I have also received the following reports and am forwarding them to the Board.

Policy Coordinators' report:    
    No report was received.

Reservations Coordinators' report:
    The Coordinators had one request to increase members reservation limits this quarter.

PR Committee / Social Media Coordinator's report:
    As noted last quarter, the PR Team is effectively defunct.  However, Lionel did sent some statistics for our social media sites.  There are significant jumps in both the Bluesky and Facebook useage.  Bluesky went from 356 users in January to 526 users in May, while the Facebook group page jumped from 3079 to 4136.

Documentation Coordinators' report:
    There is currently a small backlog of changes for Policy Votes.  We have made minor changes for clarity and link improvements.

Mailing List Administrators' report:
    There were no new abuses of any of the mailing lists this quarter.

Treasurer's report:
    No report received, because we have no Treasurer.  As no Board members volunteered for the Treasurer position for 2026, I will provide some oversight of our accounts and a year-end accounting again.

• End-of-quarter balance: $66,656.16 USD
• We have paid our accountant for preparing our 2025 US federal taxes: no taxes were owed.
• Also, Jochen has connected our new corporate PayPal account to the website and we are collecting donations there.  I sent a form letter to all our current contributors notifying them that they need to delete their current recurring donations and set up a new schedule on the new PayPal account.  Since June 19, 7 people have done so.  I will send a second notice before closing the old account.  (It is still a personal account owned by Ralf Haring.)

Secretary's report:
    No report received yet but may send a supplementary report.
Editors' group report:

        The Editors did not add any new Editors during the last quarter.

Tech and SysAdmin Coordinators:
        Jochen has recently been working on updating several functions for our website.  We have also had some work from other contributors on building a robust API.
