A Letter from GCC's Network Division
Hi everyone, and greetings from Texas. I am Wen Xing, the Director of Network. Last week, Sahil Khatod introduced GCC's new blog, "This Week in GCC" and told us about Media team. Now it's my turn to give you a tour of Network.
Network is one of eight divisions in GCC Management. The Network team maintains GCC's network of 60 university chapters all over the world, and an expansion team that is keenly looking for new university chapters. Thanks to the excellent work of the team, GCC network has undergone rapid growth and expansion in the past few years. In order to better lead the large number of our chapters, we've begun establishing Regional Committees that group chapters based on geographic location. Each committee will consist of five chapters, who work together and learn from each other throughout the year. A member from the Network Division will serve as chair to each committee, connecting chapters' management resources like project support and custom marketing materials.

This week Network is developing a manual for each Regional Committee. We want to provide guidelines for incoming and future members of the Network team as well as chapter leaders, who will together lead regional committees. The manual has three parts: understanding GCC management, involving chapters, and management advice. Randy Wan (my amazing predecessor), the lovely Cindy Khor, the fun Snow Sisters (Snow Huo and Snow Wang), and I are working on it based on our past experiences as chapter officers. In the meantime, I am looking at a huge map laying on my floor with our 60 chapters marked, and drawing circles each with five chapters enclosed. This is more complicated than it sounds, since we need to consider the location, history, involvement, school culture, and more of each chapter in order to optimize our regional groups. Regardless, it's lots of fun and I am very excited about the upcoming year for GCC chapters!
If you have any suggestions or feedback about either the manual or the groupings, or if you simply want to know more about our Network Division, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at wen....@gccglobal.org.

Another Reason for China to Go Slow on Yuan Revaluation
The U.S. and other of China’s largest trading partners have been arguing for years now that revaluing the yuan would be good for China’s economy. Sure, China might lose some jobs in the export sector as the yuan became more expensive in dollar and euro terms. But it would make up for that disadvantage by boosting the purchasing power of Chinese consumers — whose purchases would create jobs in other sectors of the economy, especially services.
A new International Monetary Fund report, however, warns China against expecting such a happy outcome.

China and Germany ink $15bn trade deals as leaders meet
China and Germany have signed trade deals worth $15bn (£9bn) following meetings between the two country's leaders in the German capital Berlin.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Angela Merkel also targeted an increase of bilateral trade to 200bn euros ($284bn; £178bn) over the next five years.
Germany is by far China's biggest trading partner in the European Union.
China and Germany are the two biggest exporters in the world.
Premier Wen said the focus of the meeting was to "boost the growth potential of bilateral trade... and to once again double our bilateral trade volume in five years".
The deals include an agreement between Airbus and China Aviation Supplies for delivery of 88 A320 planes with a list price of $7.5bn.

China Risks Being Next Property-Bubble Blow Up
A recent decline in Chinese real-estate prices is starting to shake confidence in the country's economic vitality and open a debate about whether the country's economy is over-leveraged. That's what made the real-estate bubble's aftermath so painful for the U.S. and Japan.
Just two months ago, China expert Nicholas Lardy dismissed concerns about what he labeled a "so-called property bubble" during a conference at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington.
Now, he says a housing downturn could produce a "major, major economic correction" in China, a view shared by other mainstream economists.
