I finally have a rainy morning when I can take a break from my relentless pursuit of spring's pleasures (cycling and gardening) and write to you all. I hope you all had a good winter and are well. Anna and I had a great cross country ski season and we have already had some nice outdoor rides with fellow cyclists.
The board has been doing some work on Ride With GPS (RWGPS) to improve accessibility to our rides. RWGPS now has "collections", where we can group like-rides together. It is pretty self explanatory so I have included a link so you can explore this great new feature. I have posted a couple of gravel rides. Perhaps other gravel riders could add some rides.
You can also link to collections from our web site at
or the RWGPS app on your smartphone.
RWGPS has great club features, but it is also useful to have a paid personal membership to allow for route creation and offline navigation for personal rides.
RWGPS has created a discount code for GCBT members to use. It is valid for 20% off monthly or annual, Basic or Premium subscriptions. Here is how it can be redeemed:
- Log into ridewithgps.com
- Click your profile icon in the upper right
- Click Settings
- Click Access Token
- Enter GCBT
- Choose your subscription level and create subscription. The discount will be applied to your upcoming renewal if you have an existing subscription with us.
You can also directly visit https://ridewithgps.com/access_tokens/use and enter the access code token. This is a screaming deal you won't want to miss out on.
This offer is restricted to current members i.e. 2020 members or non 2020 members who have paid for a 2021 membership.
The board continues to monitor the Covid situation. We will open the season when the government regulations and/or concern for members' safety aligns. From current research outdoor activity appears to be very safe.
If we can beat back the variants and have high levels of vaccination among members, the board is becoming more optimistic that at some point the GCBT riding season will open. We will certainly keep you posted. In the meantime, stay healthy and enjoy some two-wheeled adventures!
