Good evening cyclists.

There has been a lot of talk recently about ride honorariums.

It has been suggested that the club donate money to various charities
instead of giving an honorarium to the ride leaders.

Some ride leaders have stated that they do not require any money for
leading a ride.

Some have stated that the amounts should be either higher or lower.

These are all great suggestions.

The board had a meeting a few weeks ago in November and made the
decision to pay an honorarium of 50 dollars to each ride leader.

We have also decided to do the same for next year, 2026.

There are costs involved with organizing a ride, checking the route etc.

It can at times be difficult to find volunteers to lead the rides and we
wouldn't want to make it a financial burden on the leader.

It would be difficult for the director of touring to keep records of how
each ride leader would like to be compensated.

The GCBT club is a non profit club and it makes good sense to give some
money back to the members who chose to lead a ride.

It is entirely up to you what you do with this money, give it to a
charity of your choice, invest in some new cycling gear, buy your spouse
something nice or with Christmas coming up donate to a local food bank.

thanks for your time, Rick.
