FULL SCRATCH MEET

Each athlete will be required to scratch from any preliminary or timed finals event in which they no longer wish to participate by the deadlines listed in the schedule below. Scratch rules in effect will follow the MSI and USA Swimming Rules.  Any swimmer who has not positively scratched any preliminary or timed final event and fails to compete or declare a false start prior to their heat, shall be barred from all remaining individual and relay events for that day and must report to the Meet Referee before participating in their next individual preliminary event.

This includes relays. Swimmer names for the relays should be given to the Admin Table by the scratch deadline if possible.  

EVENT REMINDERS

Lanes 1 - 8 will be used for prelims and finals.

Please be aware of all scratch deadlines as listed in the schedule below.

Awards will be presented immediately after every 2 events and may be adjusted by the Admin Referee as needed. 

All relays will swim in the finals sessions.  There will be no option to swim in prelims.

The Boys 500 Freestyle and the Boys 400 Individual Medley will be swum FASTEST TO SLOWEST in prelims.  The Girls 500 Freestyle and 400 Individual Medley will be swum SLOWEST TO FASTEST in prelims.

Top 8 seeded 1650 swimmers in each event, after scratches will swim in the 1650 finals session.  The remaining swimmers will swim in the prelims session, fastest to slowest, alternating women/men.

WARM-UP ASSIGNMENTS

All warm-ups will be open.  In the last twenty minutes of warm-ups, Lanes 1 and 8 will be pace and Lanes 2 through 7 will be sprint.

LOCKER ROOMS AND RESTROOMS

The varsity locker rooms are for coaches, officials and volunteers.

Spectators may use the restrooms outside of the pool area.

Swimmers may ONLY use the visiting team locker rooms.  The swimmers may not prop open the door between the two locker rooms to access the varsity locker rooms.  Swimmers are NOT to use restrooms in the hallway.  Please make sure your athletes are aware of which facilities are for them to use.

SPECTATOR EXPECTATIONS

We are guests of St. Mary’s College and are using the facility while their programming is still in effect.  

Children are to be supervised at all times.  Please do not allow them to run throughout the facility.

Please do not enter any offices.  

Please do not “set up camp” in the lobby or hallways.  These areas should be kept clear so we don’t displace the students and employees of the college.

There is to be no parking in the areas adjacent to the pool on Thursday and Friday.  On Saturday and Sunday please do not park in the area directly in front of the pool.  

Spectators may use the restrooms outside of the pool area.

ADMIN REQUESTS

Admin will distribute relay cards to coaches.  Please fill out and return to the Admin Table  as soon as possible to help our Admin officials prepare for each session. You may change relay swimmers up to the start of the heat.   Once relay cards are submitted, any additional changes in relay swimmers or order must be announced to the Admin Table.  The Scratch Table will be located on the start end, on the lane 1 side during prelims and finals.  

Please notify the Meet Referees, Michael Cleary - mcma...@gmail.com and Penny Michaels /cbacm...@gmail.com, as soon as possible if you have any swimmers that need accommodations. 

TIMERS & COUNTERS

Teams are assigned to timing positions for ALL Thursday events  

Swimmers must supply their own timers & counters as listed below:

Session 1 Thursday PM - counters only for 1000 free heats

Sessions 4 & 5 Saturday AM & PM - counters only for 500 free heats

Session 6 Sunday AM - timers and counters for 1650 free heats swum in preliminaries

Session 7 Sunday 1650 Session - timers and counters for 1650 free heats swum in finals

SATURDAY AWARDS

The award ceremony will begin at 4:30 pm on Saturday.  Swimmers receiving an award on Saturday night need to be out of warm-ups, properly dressed for photographs, and in the award ready area by 4:20 pm.  

EVENT AWARDS

The coach of the top finalist presents the awards at the podium in the awards break following the next set of events.  (ex. Saturday following the 200 free finals the awards for the 800 Free Relay will be presented.  After the 100 breast finals the awards for the 200 free will be presented.) The podium will be located between the large pool and the 7 lane warm up pool.  Please make sure your swimmers arrive promptly to the podium in appropriate attire.

MEET JURY

The Meet Referee will select an athlete, a coach, and an official to comprise the meet jury.

TEAM SEATING

Teams will be assigned areas for seating.

VENDOR

The vendor will be set up in the lobby.  

CHECK IN

Credentials must be presented to Carron Dunker, or her designee, showing current fully certified Coach or Official Membership.  Upon verification of credentials, a meet specific wristband will be given that shall be worn at all times while on deck. Failure to comply will result in deck access being denied or immediate removal from the pool deck. You must either be actively coaching athletes or officiating to be allowed access to the pool deck.

HOSPITALITY

Hospitality will be located by the 7 lane warmup pool. 

COACHES MEETING

Friday Prelims  @ 7:30 AM in the alcove by the spectator entrance stairway.

Each team must send a coach representative.  A contact name and number will be confirmed for each team.  

TEAM MANAGER

All teams must provide a point of contact for their volunteers as listed on the Team Communication Form in the Meet Notice.  Teams will be contacted if the forms or team manager information is not provided.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Any decisions related to inclement weather will be made by the Championship Meet Committee and will be emailed to all coaches and posted at mdswim.org

Worker Assignments - Teams are required to provide volunteers as assigned.  Assignments may be split into shifts as determined and managed by each team.  Team Managers / Coaches will be contacted to find replacement volunteers for no shows. 

Meet timeline - reflects alternating women and men, fastest to slowest in the 1650 Free, also includes breaks for event awards presentation.  The Meet Referee may adjust the flow of the meet to ensure breaks for swimmers between events.
