Each with its unique philosophy and methodology, the age-old practice of Acupuncture offers a holistic approach to health, while Dry Needling, a more recent innovation, is lauded for its precision in treating specific pain points.
While acupuncture is a centuries-old practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it revolves around the philosophy of Qi or energy flow, utilising solid monofilament needles placed along specific meridian lines in the body.
This practice is guided by the belief that Qi circulates within the body along these meridians, and any disruption in this flow can lead to illness. By inserting needles at specific points, acupuncturists aim to restore the balance of Qi and promote healing.
Acupuncture has been shown to be beneficial for treating back pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, and menstrual pain in some cases. Additionally, it has shown promise in managing osteoarthritis, respiratory disorders, and stress.
This modality is effective in treating muscle trigger points and inflammation, often resulting from sports injuries. It eases neck and lower back pain, assists in managing conditions like fibromyalgia, and aids neuromuscular conditions.
Rosanna, a therapist with nearly 30 years of experience, specialises in both traditional acupuncture and Zero Balancing. After establishing a thriving practice in Northamptonshire, she relocated to Cambridgeshire in 2016 and has been working in the heart of Cambridge since. Renowned for her excellent therapeutic skills, kindness, and warmth, Rosanna finds joy in making a positive difference in people's lives, health, and well-being.
Her journey into complementary medicine began in the mid-1980s when seeking relief for migraines triggered by bereavement. Overcoming her fear of needles, Rosanna experienced transformative improvements through acupuncture, prompting her to resign from her job as a Press Officer for an arts organisation in London and pursue acupuncture training at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa. She completed an Advanced Licenciate in Acupuncture in 1994 and acquired additional qualifications from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, specialising in acupuncture for fertility and women's hormonal issues.
Zero Balancing, with its emphasis on respectful touch, has become an integral part of Rosanna's practice. She sees it as a wonderful complement to acupuncture or a standalone option, continually amazed by the benefits it brings. Curious individuals can explore testimonials on her website (www.tree-of-life-therapy.co.uk) for more insights.

She has a reputation for excellent therapeutic skills, kindness and warmth, and her work with Acupuncture and Zero Balancing is highly respected and appreciated by her many clients.
She became interested in complementary medicine in the mid-1980s, when she sought help for crippling migraines brought on by bereavement. Acupuncture brought about such a dramatic improvement in her health, emotionally as well as physically, that she resigned from her job as a Press Officer for an arts organisation in London and began her initial acupuncture training at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa, going on to complete an Advanced Licenciate in Acupuncture in 1994. Since then she has received further qualifications from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.
She started training in Zero Balancing in 1991 after being inspired by a wonderful ZB session from a colleague. She qualified as a Certified Zero Balancer in 1999 and went on to train as a ZB Teacher with the founder, Dr Fritz Smith, in both the UK and the USA. Since 2004 she taught Zero Balancing workshops in Northamptonshire, Cambridge, and Milton Keynes, and was passionate about mentoring students. She no longer teaches Zero Balancing, but brings her specialist skills and wealth of experience to her work with clients.
Acupuncture is a treatment method involving superficial insertion into the skin of extremely thin sterile acupuncture needles at specific points. Chinese Medicine explains that by stimulating these points, it helps to regulate the flow of energy facilitating a therapeutic response encouraging the body's natural healing process to restore health and prevent disease.
Massage is a hands-on treatment in which the therapist manipulates the superficial and deeper muscles and connective tissues of the body. Using a range of techniques helps facilitate a therapeutic response, promoting blood and lymph circulation, encouraging the body's natural repair and detoxification mechanisms.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a broad range of medicine practices sharing common concepts which have been developed in China and are based on a tradition of more than 2,000 years, including various forms of herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage , exercise , and dietary therapy.
My passion for discovering and approaching new ways of treating and healing patients led me later to specialize and graduate as an ACUPUNCTURER in Traditional Chinese Medicine, an official qualification through an important institution such as the University of Barcelona linked to the prestigious Campus of the Hospital Sant Joan de Du.
I have always been known for giving a humanized and personalized treatment to each patient, and for achieving the objectives by jumping over the obstacles that may arise along the way, and it is with these values that Sant Ku Acupuncture was born, complementing the knowledge and experience gained in conventional / western health care in various countries such as England (instrumentalist in vascular and general surgery operating room), Italy (pediatrics,...), France, here in Barcelona.... I also obtained a certificate of eligibility to work in the U.S. health system. I am also qualified in Chiromassage. Specialized in areas such as assisted reproduction and having completed the Master's thesis on the effectiveness of acupuncture in fertility... I have the tools to offer a complete service of acupuncture with techniques such as electroacupuncture in cases that require it, recommendations in nutrition, phytotherapy... to pursue the best results in each patient and collaborating with excellent resources and professionals in the field of Chinese and Western medicine.
I currently collaborate with prestigious doctors and clinics in Barcelona (gynecologists, traumatologists, psychologists, nutritionists, yoga teachers...) to always go further, no matter how difficult each case may be, and from honesty in cases where this is not possible.
Currently I offer acupuncture in 100% native language (Spanish, Catalan, English, French and Italian) both for PAIN, ANXIETY/STRESS, INSOMNIA, FERTILITY, BABY TURMOVER, GASTROINTESTINAL ALTERATIONS, ADDICTIONS.... in consultation in Sant Cugat (next to FGC St Cugat station) and now also in Barcelona responding to the current demand of patients, as well as at home in specific cases that can not move.
Also, we love TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION and why not, be the first... so we have added a Virtual Reality Mindfulness program during acupuncture sessions. Not only that, the patient can perform his acupuncture session while entering the metaverse connecting with a new place, music and virtual experience....
We are only happy if we exceed our patients' expectations.
I cannot express enough how incredible this acupuncture experience has been. I went for a specific reason and through Rosanna's diligence and expertise we addressed many underlying things that have been affecting my overall wellness. She is kind, smart and truly loves what she does.
Thank you Rosanna!
In just one session I have managed to regulate my gastrontestinal habits. Pleasant and very professional treatment. Consultation very well located and where you feel very comfortable and at all times are aware of you.
