TheDolphin Nautilus CC Plus has been around for years and is tried and tested. The Nautilus CC Plus has been very popular in past years, but are now past their prime and are overshadowed by more advanced models like the Dolphin Premier and Dolphin Sigma. With the latest technology such as gyroscopes, NanoFilters, Multi-Media, and wireless connectivity, the modern models are providing a new level of clean that the Nautilus CC Plus is missing.
The filtration system includes 1 set of standard filters. This is rather disappointing to see, as most modern robotic pool cleaners in the Dolphin ProLine, such as the Dolphin Quantum, Premier, or Sigma, at least include the Dolphin's NanoFilters. While it gets the job done for some medium sized particles, it leaves a lot of leaves, twigs, and even finer particles behind. When compared to the Dolphin Premier's Multi-Media Filtration with 3 filter sets included (Standard, NanoFilters, and Oversized Leaf Bag), it is rather disappointing to see the Nautilus CC Plus lacking these filter options.
As for filtration, the Nautilus CC Plus is simple, but leaves you wishing it had more options. It has only has 1 filter media option, the standard filter. Testing the standard filter, it filled up pretty fast with medium sized debris. However, we were disappointed it left behind leaves, twigs, and smaller particles like sand and silt we had placed in the test pool.
If you get a lot of leaves in your pool, you should consider multi-media, which includes an oversized leaf bag option. This is standard on the Dolphin Premier, and 4 filter options can greatly reduce the frequency of cleanings.
Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is able to easily clean your walls of your pool. However, don't get this confused with waterline cleaning. The Nautilus CC Plus will only clean the walls of your pool. It will miss the dirtest part of your pool, the waterline, where 90% of all algae and bacteria is in your pool. Make sure to check out the top waterline cleaning units ranked here: Waterline Cleaning Robots
With an anti-tangle swivel, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus can fully explore and clean your pool without ever getting stuck. The innovative design allows the robot to move freely 360 degrees around your pool, without ever knotting the cord.
Set up has never been easier. No installation needed. Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is ready to go right out of the box. No extra pumps, plumbing, or anything else needed. Simply plug Nautilus CC Plus and start cleaning!

Exits out the top, but this one also just seems to stir up all the algae and debris and not clean very well. I've run in 4 consecutive times trying to remove dead algae from bottom of pool, and all it does it suck it up and spit it back out the top. Filters can't contain it. It also stirs up debris when it slides down the wall to reposition itself, which it does several times The pool looks 10 times worse after the cleaner runs. Picks up leaves fine, but so does a twenty buck leaf rake!
Ours cleans all but top step of granite-look composite steps, 4x8. Gets stuck for 30 sec., tops, then blasts away & backs-up. Also does vertical waterline of vinyl pool beautifully & climbs walls. Never a dirty pool; we change & wash filters each use, 2 uses if not very dirty. We usually use 2 hr. cycle daily & store it on stand, covered. Pool gets cleaner & cleaner. CRYSTAL clear water at night in light. So happy.
I've had this model since summer 2018 and run it everyday from may 1 until november. It's worked great up until this week. I've only replaced the sponge climbing rings once a year. My tracks have finally worn out. I'll replace them and should be good for a few more years. Great robot!
The instructions that come with the unit specifically state that it is only for use with in-ground pools. Though I don't seem why it wouldn't work with an unground pool and, judging from the other responses to this question, it would appear that others have used it with above ground pools without issue.
Purchased our Nautilus in 2016 and it has been broken each time we take it out of winter storage - power supply died, currently at the manufacturer for service - covered under warranty but had to pay $110 to ship it back. Not impressed. Works well - when it works. Not sure what else we should have done to care for it - covered the power unit when outside, packed away carefully in the winter, put in shed when not in use.
Don't have pine needles where I am. But this picks up everything except very large leaves. In my opinion it should pick up pine needles easily. I am really pleased with mine cutti g back my manual cleaning to about 10 %. Maiy on the steps and ledges
I just had a diver in our pool today. We had 13 holes 2 Inches off of the bottom of the flat shallow end. Right in line with the bupmers of the dolphin cleaner. I lost 4 feet of water for the past 3 winters due to this
We don't have a pool ladder but it does get stuck on the steps and then it shuts off which is irritating at times because you have to baby sit the thing. It does do a good job at cleaning the pool when it isn't stuck.
Maytronics, the Amazon Seller nor Amazon have anything to do with any extended warranty, so you would have to ask whomever you paid for the extended warranty about their coverage (and read the fine print!)Although each Dolphin Model has different Limited Warranty expirations, the Nautilus CC Plus is 2 1/2 years from order date. The Limited Warranty that comes with your Dolphin is bumper-to-bumper so it includes repair parts and labor (within the limits of the warranty, of course, so not filters or tracks of course, as in most cases those wear and eventually need to be replaced based on usage!)
12 month manufacturer warranty- plus Amazon's backing--- (usually the only thing that can go wrong on these is the power supply units-- in the cases we've seen over the past year or two- the manufacturer is very quick to replace immediately! If purchased from a Maytronics Dealer, you should encounter no warranty issues at all!)-- Warranty does cover all parts/labor, but not expectations!
Yes it is. The power pack and robot come together. I would strongly reccomend getting the caddy for this product. The power pack fits nicely in the caddy and it provides a solid base for holding the robot. The robot has very soft scrubbers and if you let it sit on the ground it may malform them. The caddy has special grooves that keep the scrubbers elevated when in storage or out of the pool. The cord also gets unwieldy so having the caddy allows you to neatly store the cord.
I do not have the WiFi model which is the one for the app. Read before I purchased, the WiFi model was to program cleaning time while away from your home. Which means you leave the Dolphin in your pool while you are not home. But not sure specifically about your question.
There are 2 sets of filters . The top of the unit pops open and you remove the filters. Then you unclip the top of the filters which separates them into individual pieces. Then you just hose them off and reassemble. It only takes a couple of minutes. I think there is a video for this on their website. We have been so impressed with how well this cleans our pool !! Good luck. Hope this helps.
I'm in the middle of a warranty issue right now. It took them 3-4 weeks to respond to my initial claims on their website. I just shipped them my robot at my expense ($30) for an issue that seems to be very common from what I've seen on the internet. Still waiting to hear back about what they find. Is really inconvenient that the local dealer can't/ won't fix warranty issues and you have to send it in. Not sure I'd buy a dolphin product again
You can leave the Dolphin in the water and program it to clean automatically. I deploy the Dolphin about once a week to clean the debris that my in-ground filter and skimmer didn't adequately collect. I remove the Dolphin from the pool after each cleaning. Although you "can" leave it in the pool, I don't because it was a considerable investment and I just can't imagine it would last as long remaining in water all the time.
You need to move a power outlet closer I would say. Install one closer to the pool, you know? You can buy outlets, breakers, and wire at Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Just snap a breaker into the breaker box, attach the wires, run the cable out to where you need the outlet to be...I would say within 50 feet of pool or so....bury the cable and install the outlet. That way you can plug the machine in.
The robot, by design is already designed to be slightly buoyant (i.e., it displaces slightly more water than its own weight out of water) in fresh water. This is evident when the robot floats to the surface when it turns itself off. What makes it sink then if you don't physically add weights? Ingeniously, when the robot operates it takes on the additional water (remember there is a pump suctioning water through the robot and its filters) makes it just heavy enough to sink. When scrubbing the sides of the pool at the waterline the buoyant, tread friction and suction forces are all utilized to get the job done. When the robot is being removed from the pool, floating at the surface it is easily moved by its tether because the buoyant forces helping keep it afloat are nearly equal to its weight out of the water. However as you begin to remove the robot from the water those helpful buoyant forces go to zero and until all the water drains from inside the robot, It will actually weigh slightly more than its advertised weight. This is why most manufacturers recommend the user getting low to the waterline and not lift the robot much above the edge of the pool when removing it.
I have an approx 38,000 gallon pool and I purchased the plus model. While I can't compare it to the basic first hand, I was sold on the top loading filter cartridges and the larger capacity filters. With an ordinarily clean pool, I run it 2 times a week and it still seems to collect a good amount of junk since the pool is so big. Another advantage is the 2 year vs 1 year warranty.
