ISmule partner sent me a noite saying several recordings of her duets with others were now locked and her Invites were also locked and no one is able to Join. I had no answers for her and asked her to make sure her Subscription had not run out and then I turned Smule on and realised many of the songs I had bookmarked would not load saying Content not found and another invite said "Locked" . If it was locked then I would not have seen the invite in the first place to Book Mark it. With every new software updates we end up with newer problems on Smule.

Even I am having this problem. I couldn't join my own invites. I changed the private setting to public and saved the settings. And then I looked at the settings again I found that it has reverted back to private.

Smule works with songwriters to make sure their work is recognized. Sometimes, songwriters have very specific views on how and where they want their music to appear. If the rights holder asks us to restrict or remove content, we comply with that.

Due to the above reason, some of your recordings might appear private now. We are always working to build new and better relationships with more and more songwriters, so we hope that this will change in the future.

This is a Cop out. Same song from same uploader has been used by others and not locked. This is Zen Desk letting off hot air instead of passing the problem to the developers. I suspect some error in software coding with their zillion upgrades

If I make some recording "Private and Lock it", then you cannot see my locked songs on my Personal Profile, but I can. Say you lock a song, I cannot see it either. That is how Privacy is Protected. I can make an invite Private instead of Public and invite select friends to join and they will be able to see it and join the invite but no one else

Not at all True. The song that was locked for my friend has been sung and recorded and invited by others and they were not blocked. Zen Desk giving all sorts of excuses without investigating the problem.

Ok, so I'm not a great singer or anything like that but the Smule app doesn't seem to work. When you record, the app doesn't pick up your voice through the mic. Then when the recording is finished, it won't play.

I have this exact issue with my S20 Plus. I traded my S9 Plus in for it, and am in Australia (so I don't know about these US versions or the likes).

I use Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless bluetooth headphones and I get awful static noise from Smule recordings, can't even recognise a voice.

I plug in my Blue Yeti mic to the UCB-C and headphones that go through the mic and that work fine for calls/ recordings on the standard phone recorder, however again on Smule I get the same result.

I do believe there is something for the developers of Smule to do something about this for S20 users, however there should be a way that Samsung can help its users perform the same things that they did on previous versions. Nearly makes me want my S9+ back.

This is not a known problem for the S20 line in the US (which this forum is based on.) You can open a request with Smule here: -us/requests/new (this is a link for US support; I don't see one for Australia.)

Hi thank you so much for your help. It really worked with me. I can record now in smule. But when I recording I can hear my own voice. Its really hard to sing when I hear my own voice back. So can you please me with that. Thank you.

I have the same problem. My phone is S20 fe 4g (India). i just bought samsung type c connector for 3.5 mm headset. i tried in voice recording it was recording smoothly. also i can listen the songs.. but in Smule i can't record at all. since yesterday i am trying in diffrent way but all options are failed.

Hi! So I just spent two and a half hours with this same issue wondering why on earth my headset mic wouldn't work and did everything short of factory reset before I figured it out! So I just now got my Bluetooth mic to register but you have to select which apps to feed to it but overall super easy!

Go into Settings > in the search bar type "separate app sound" and turn that bad boy on! It will ask you to choose exactly which apps to switch and which device to play it through. Its the ONLY thing that worked for me! Good luck!

Hi - I have the same issue with my S20 Plus. When you did this, how long did it work for? Just one recording? Or one Smule session? And would you have to do it again every time you wanted to use Smule?

Also - what else does this delete that I may want to keep on my phone? I believe deleting cache files means my phone will have to download commonly accessed data again every time - making the phone experience slower. Not too keen on that.

When I use my iRig mic with USB I get trashy voice, like a shredder effect or sth like that. When I use my iRig with voice recorder I get a slow-mo version of my voice with also many disortion... When I use my headphones came with the phone smule does not start with voice recording, goes 3, 2, 1 and then pauses... tried all things like uninstalling, clearing system cache and other solutins mentioned here.

An option would be to get rid of my contract with my mobile provider and looking out for some other smartphone manufacturer. Samsung always satisfied me by providing hi tec phone hardware solutions and stability in usage. Until now...

I discovered Smule in 2016, but it was just a passing interest. I had never really sang much other than in the car, in the shower, and maybe if we were at a bar that had a karaoke machine. But I loved to sing.

Recently, I decided that I would really like to have a similar level of quality for monitoring while singing, but I would like to be able to take it with me to perform recordings in different locations.

None of this is necessary just for good Smule recordings. I know folks that seem to get better recordings out of their iPhone and iPhone headphones. But I use this studio for other voiceover, recording, and broadcasting needs, so the key to me is making it easy to sit down and get right to recording, reviewing, and broadcasting quickly and easily, with expected, reproducible results.

In 2019, my anxiety totally took over my life. One day, when laying in bed, scrolling on Facebook, an advertisement popped up. I watched it.... someone singing a duet, with a famous singer/songwriter, and i got curious. I installed the app, and started to explore it. My first 100 coversongs, was sung with a rusty untrained voice, and without knowing that this hobby would change my life - creating a new focus and in periodes, be able to control my anxiety.

I will continue to sing, no matter how bad people thinks it sound, as i enjoy it, and inspire my children to express their feelings through music.

How do you see the future of technology and business? For example, Apple Music with its 17 million subscribers is now a huge revenue stream, and yet some of the streaming music services are still trying to find a business model, it seems. How do you see this interchange coming about?

Well, that's another reason why I think right now is an interesting time in entertainment and specifically music. All of these forces are coming together and changing how music is consumed, distributed, and perhaps even licensed. All of the streaming services haven't really changed the model; they've taken recorded music and they're redistributing it. The packing used to be CDs, then downloads, and now streams.

At Smule we're changing the model. It's not just packaging something that came out of the recording studio. Instead it's giving everyone the recording studio in the palm of their hand, or allowing people to have a recording studio together in the Cloud. It's inverting the entire equation of how music is created, and in the process it also inverts the equation of how music is distributed and licensed.

For example, because our community is creating the music, we're not using that master recording, and we're not licensing the master recording from the label. Instead, we're licensing the copyright to the composition from the publisher, from the writer. And we pay royalties out to all the writers. In fact, we have contracts with 300 publishers across the globe. But because we're not dealing with recorded sound, because it's the copyright and we're allowing our community to create the recording, we don't have those same issues.

When I speak to investors in a broader sense about the music industry, they will look at me and say, "There's no money in it. Are you a crazy fool to go into that market?" Now, you've had multiple successes, so that probably helps you with funding or getting funding. What do you think the opportunities are for building technology businesses within the music industry?

The way we look at it, though, is that if you really want to think about the music industry, you could argue Apple is the largest provider. They've done quite well. They control, to some extent, the distribution, and they also control the high-end authoring tools: Logic is the number one studio tool for creating recordings. I use this analogy, which is somewhat hyperbolic, to make a broader point, and that is the music industry isn't what we thought it was anymore. We're close to 200 billion a year in music sales, but the music industry, the labels only control 10% of that. It isn't that the artists aren't getting a significant share of it, it's that the business model has moved from streaming and passive engagement to active engagement. Where most of the dollars are going is to concerts, merchandise, or engaging with the artists through brands. Or Smule, which is a new platform for engaging with music and with the content.
