Evacuation/school lunches today

Dear Parents,

This morning we had an eventful beginning to our school day. At
approximately 9:40 a.m. our fire alarm system was activated and the
building was safely evacuated. The cause was a kitchen fire in the
cooking area. Our custodial staff extinguished the fire immediately.
The Fire Department inspected the kitchen area and gave us the
clearance to re-enter the building at 9:55 a.m.

Food Services brought in food from other schools since our kitchen
area had to be closed down for it to be washed down and sanitized by a
team of workers. The children were all fed in our reconfigured food
distribution areas in both cafeterias. Everything should be back to
normal in the kitchen by tomorrow for a regular school lunch day at
Gayhead.
