Dear Parents and Guardians,

January 10, 2013

On the afternoon of Monday January 14, we will begin a slightly
revised pick up procedure. This is being done in order to create an
even safer environment for the children.

We will announce at the same time as always (3:18 p.m.) for students
who are being picked up to come downstairs to the dismissal area.
Students whose last names begin with A through F will report to Room
2A (this has not changed). Students whose last names begin with the
letters G through P will now report to the hallway outside Room 2.
Students whose last names begin with the letters Q through Z will
report to hallway outside Room 3 (this has not changed).

At 3:25 different doors -- the exterior doors to Room 2B -- will
open. Parents will proceed to the sign out desks,
present their photo identification and sign out their children.

As the parents are signing their children out, those children will be
called from their assigned area. The called for children will come to
the dismissal room (Room 2B) where their parent or guardian is signing
them out. They will be united with their parent or guardian and they
will leave through the doors they came in.

This revised procedure will eliminate the crowds in the hallways and
provide for an improved and safer pick up of children. Because it’s a
new procedure, the process will take longer. We hope it will speed up
as everyone becomes accustomed to the new plan.

PLEASE NOTE: The safest method of transportation to and from school
is for all children to take the school bus every day. Therefore we
strongly encourage you to have your child take the bus. A consistent
pattern is best for your child. With this practice, your child does
not have to remember a different plan on different days. You as the
parent or guardian do not have to worry about arriving on time or
dealing with traffic or delays of any kind. A substitute teacher does
not have to deal with different plans for some of the children in the
class. Again, I cannot emphasize enough, the safest place for your
child is on the school bus.

For the time your child may have an appointment, and must be picked up
at dismissal time, please send a note stating so to the teacher. If
you must pick up your child earlier from school for an appointment,
please send a note to the teacher stating the time. Please come to
the main office to sign your child out. Your child will meet you in
the main lobby. Please remember there is no pick up of students in
the main lobby after 2:50 p.m. when our busses begin to arrive. There
are no exceptions to this – there will be no pick up after 2:50 on the
main floor.

We sincerely ask for and thank you for your cooperation in the
interest of everyone’s safety and our building’s security.
