Easy Installs! Many Windows titles can be installed using our CrossTie technology. If you have CrossOver installed, and have the installer for your Windows software, simply click the button in our Compatibility Database, and CrossOver will automatically install your application for you!
FYI - Just tried the latest full installer for Sailwave v2-28-1-1 on one of my Linux systems where the Sailwave install is standard. The latest installer has included SWPrize, in the same folder as the Sailwave.exe.
The installer will guide you through all the steps. You will need to agree to the license terms and confirm the reboot of the bottle environment by clicking Restart Now after each prerequisite is installed. Note that your machine will not be rebooted.
Before you start, download the dbForge Studio installer file. To avoid possible installation issues, make sure the installer file is placed on the local drive of your machine (for instance, in the standard Downloads folder of your Mac).
4. Now you need to specify the location of the previously downloaded installer file (in our case, it is the default Downloads folder). Find and select the required file and click Choose installer.
This will check all of crossover's dependencies and print out a report which shows what it can find and what is missing. If something is still missing you will need to either install it or link the .so file to the right version.
Once that's done, installing Windows applications tends to be easy. From the CrossOver interface, you just choose which Windows applications you want from the list of supported applications. Then you point the installer to the installtion file or CD/DVD and soon things will look just like they do when you install a Windows program, on Windows.
Install GDebi package installer and CodeWeaver's CrossOver
1. Open up the TERMINAL: Ctrl + Alt + T
2. Activate the universe repository:
sudo add-apt-repository universe
Hello everyone!
Ever since I switched to the Mac, I've only really had one regret. I wished to play some of my old favorite audio games on the Mac. Parallels is a bit overcomplicated and resource heavy for my needs, but I've discovered with crossover by code weavers:
one can actually play a lot of audio games on the Mac.
Some caveats:
1. anything that needs sapi5 is out.
2. You may be able to run NVDA along with a game in the same bottle but this has not yet been tried and tested. If someone feels like testing this, please feel free to post a comment and I will update this guide.
3. Unfortunately things written in VB6 are out. This includes older l-works games, BSC games and XLStudios games, among others.
4. You will need sighted help to run the installers. I plan in the near future to set up pre prepared bottles to mitigate this for certain games but I just haven't had the time to do that yet.
5. PBGames are out as they are written in the HTA format, and are not .exe natively.
So what does work?
Currently, I have tested a few games and found them working.
super egg hunt plus: works perfectly!
last crusade: works perfectly except for unusually long loading times for levels.
q9 action game (Swedish version): works perfectly.
q9 action game (English version): works well, with caveat that my key doesn't seem to be working for an unrelated reason so can't test registration system. It should theoretically work though.
Self voicing games written in BGT work well.
So how does this work?
1. download a trial of crossover from the link above.
2. Install crossover like any other Mac app.
3. Launch it, press "install a windows application"
4. Download the setup for the application you want to play.
5. Type in the name of the app, and pick the game name (unlisted application) from the search results table.
6. In the set of radio buttons on top, click select installer.
7. Interact with the grid and navigate around until you get a browse file dialog, select the application.
8. Click the "select bottle" radio button, pick "new windows XP bottle" or "new windows 7 bottle" depending on how new the game is, and press continue.
9. Keep following the wizard until you get a separate wine window, this is where you will need help to click next next next until setup is done.
10. In your list of bottles in crossover, find the bottle where you installed the game , go to the context menu and press "run commands"
11. browse around the windows tree (which is actually your bottle) until you find the .exe, and press ok, then run.
With luck the game will start and you'll be able to play!
If you have any questions feel free to post a comment here and I'll try to answer them.
+1 I was having the same issues running parallels windows 11 arm, and I got the same error in crossover too. However, in crossover, I was able to get it to run by using a 32 bit bottle... the only problem being that I couldn't get any of my games to run in this 32 bit bottle.
CC3+ does not have any problems installing addons or its main program under crossover however the installer for CC3 does not install under any of the wine engines. the only way to get CC3 on a mac is to use a virtual machine program like parallels or vmware or run it from bootcamp
CrossOver is capable of running many Windows games installed via exe files (for example DRM-free installers downloaded from GOG.com). However the support for actual game library platforms is currently limited. These platforms are supported:
Additionally, because all ErectaStep products are OSHA compliant right out of the box, all modifications and reconfigurations remain compliant without the need for additional custom engineering. Our modular work platforms and crossover solutions meet the high expectations discerning safety managers and operations staff require to get the job done.
Another way to play GOG games is to use the innoextract tool, which is used to unpack installers created with Inno Setup. From the documentation, the simplest way to install innoextract is using the Homebrew package:
This installation guide offers examples of crossover and equalizer (EQ) installation types and suggested system layouts. The installation of your crossover or EQ will depend on the make and body style of your vehicle as well as the equipment purchased.
A note about wiring: In addition to the tools listed above, your equalizer or active crossover installation will require power and ground wiring, plus RCA cables, terminals, and a remote turn-on lead. The easiest way to get all of these items is in an amplifier wiring kit, available at Crutchfield.
A passive crossover steps into the signal path after the amplification. It's a capacitor or coil usually installed right on your speaker lead. A passive crossover comes with every pair of drivers in a set of components, sometimes mounted on the speaker's frame.
Crutchfield also carries passive high-pass crossovers, called Bass Blockers, that clean up the sound of midrange speakers and tweeters by removing the low frequencies. They get installed by the speakers and use the factory wiring with standard quick-slide connectors.
Installing an active crossover requires a little more work. You have to connect 12-volt power, ground, and a turn-on lead. The active crossover gets installed between your receiver and your amplifier. (Many active crossovers have both speaker-level and preamp inputs, so they can usually accommodate either type of connection.)
Like a crossover, the equalizer gets installed between your receiver and your amplifier. And like a crossover, an equalizer needs power, ground, and turn-on wires. You'll find equalizers that are designed to be installed in the dash, above or below your receiver. These might require custom installation work. Other equalizers are designed to be mounted in a remote location, like the trunk. Either way, the wiring connections required will be the same. To install:
In most cases, you'll be routing RCA cables from your in-dash receiver's preamp outputs to the inputs of your EQ or crossover. While your receiver is out of the dash to access the turn on lead, connect a set of RCA patch cables (long enough to reach your crossover in its mounting location) to these outputs, taping them together so they won't come apart. Route the patch cables (again using wire ties) behind the dash, and to the crossover mounting location.
I received the same message. I run quicken for windows with a crossover interface. I received this message: Failed to cache the downloaded installer error 0x800b0109. Since I use crossover it says it can't download in the correct bottle. I have 4 bottles and I have tried everyone. Nothing works.
I am adding to comment above. The first message I receive is "Quicken cannot load this page because WebView2 Runtime is not installed. Click OK to download the installer. I do that and then I get the above message
Uninstalling "Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime" is not a fix. I did so and could access my Quicken file for a few hours. However, when I tried to run One Step Update within Quicken, it shut down with the same old message "Quicken cannot load this page because Webview2 Runtime is not installed. Click OK to download the installer" THIS IS A QUICKEN MESSAGE NOT A MICROSOFT MESSAGE AS QUICKEN KRISTINA SAYS ABOVE. It pops up within Quicken in a box that has "Quicken" in the top left corner. If you click to download the installer that just takes you back into the endless cycle described above, i.e. the following message appears "Installation failed. The Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime is already installed for the system" QUICKEN PLEASE FIX THIS!
I've bought myself a new Mac and the only Windows software I now use is cTrader. Understanding that it's unlikely to come natively to Mac (but if you could, I'd love you), is it possible to have an offline installer? I'd rather not pay for a Windows license just to use cTrader, on top of also buying Parallels. Crossover doesn't appear to want to install cTrader due to the installation process trying to download the file during installation.
