There Is No Choice But To Descend

Discovering,
recovering
remembering
reflecting

All those memories best left forgotten
when times were truly rotten
and family and friends
couldn't be bothered in the end

So then there is no choice but to descend
no colors to render
no presents in December
just an unfortunate means to an end

This world may be ending
so please just save yourself
mixed messages always sending
back misfired information

Guess all we really need to know
is if there is anything pure left to grow
when everything seems to be a file
waiting patiently to download

Bits and pieces of some shattered dream
still waiting to see
if the end really justifies the means
when one only feels the need to scream

But this voice is hoarse
as a matter of course
and this compelling force
trying to make itself known

In the blood, coursing through these veins
to this reality
so haphazard and strange
finding no real reason to complain

In this reflection
that's all irrationality
some mirrored connection
just another withered belief

Lingering Hope
left swinging on some rope
as the words turn to dust
waning, broken trust
