Need Stories from School

I am a BEd. student hoping to become a teacher in secondary sciences.
My program is located in a small town with an even smaller gay
community. I know little about the gay and lesbian youth experience,
and as a future teacher I think this is vital information to know for
the following reasons:

1. 40% of all youth sucides are lesbian and gay youths.
2. "coming out" is occuring at a younger age and requires a lot of
support.
3. not much support for gay and lesbian youth in smaller communities.

I would appreciate any stories or thoughts you could give me, as it
will widen my understanding of these issues.

I am especially interested in school experiences.
