      McCartney on gay manager Epstein
                London ~ In the November 16 issue of the
London Independent, Sir Paul McCartney reminisces about Brian Epstein,
the visionary gay manager who masterminded the Beatles' rise to
superstardom. Writes McCartney: "We had been playing together a little
while and we were starting to feel that we were getting good, but there
comes a point in everybody's career when you think you need a little bit
more than just being good. We needed someone to manage that goodness and
push and give us a few clues as to how we might go a bit further.
We were just Liverpool guys, so the word was 'queer,' not 'gay.' We
didn't really have a problem with it. It was just something you made fun
of. That's just the way it was. We actually didn't know anybody gay.

            Antigay group targets Budweiser  
                              St Louis ~ A
religious right group scheduled a press conference in St. Louis on
Tuesday to release footage from the Folsom Street Fair, a leather
festival held in San Francisco, which is sponsored by Anheuser-Busch.
Peter LaBarbera, head of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, which
called the press conference, said in a press release, "You will not
believe the shocking behavior that Anheuser-Busch has lent its name and
prestige to. It's bad enough that San Francisco blocked off several
streets for a festival celebrating 'consensual' cruelty and human
degradation, but it's even worse that for the second straight year, Bud
Light banners were flown proudly at this event glorifying sexual
violence." Religious conservatives have launched a campaign against
Budweiser for advertising in gay publications.
