Have you ever heard of HIV-negative people taking anti-HIV medications
to prevent HIV infection? PREP (which stands for pre-exposure
prophylaxis) refers to the potential for using anti-HIV medications to
prevent HIV-negative people from becoming infected with the virus.
Right now, there are clinical trials underway in the United States and
other countries to determine whether the medication is safe and
effective for HIV prevention.
