dont recall if it was here on the forums at gayboi. There was talk
about another service that is distributed and your profile was stored
local to your system. This seem a far better solution, gay.com
certainly wont change back and waiting for jg to update chat client is
taking too long, and most likely will be playing a game of cat and
mouse with gay.com's protcal, i have a feeling that gay.com will make
changes to it far more frequently.

so anyone remeber what was mentioned about an alternate solution?

thanks
Sili

There was a suggestion that Chat Client fallback to an existing IRC
network if/when GDC goes offline. IRC is a well established network
with backup servers, but wasn't designed to store profiles - so the
client software would have to do that locally; coordinating 'official'
profiles would be tricky.

Another approach might be to use a decentralized cooperative point-to-
point network much like BitTorrent, Gnutella, etc. That way the
participants ARE the network and server structure - rather hard to
kill that.

Yeah but i'm interested in now...
The atitude in the forums at gayboi forums are over the top. it really
has turned me off wanting to use the software. along with no word jg
and to his situation, could be something serious with for that matter,
( i hope not) but there truley needs to be a viable solution to this.
all the other onlince chat services just sucks donkey balls. most are
using some limited flash or java based client. Horrors!!!!
If anyone knows of a good irc server for gay chat start posting them
here.

There usually are several gay channels on each IRC network, but the
quality of them is very subjective. It may be possible to compile a
page of these channels, and configure them into a java client you run
on your system; there would be nothing centralized about that.

The only service that seemed to compare to GDC in the number of active
rooms was GayDar.CO.UK
