In addition to this week's GAWL events listed below, this week is also the GAWL Foundation's Statewide Week of Service!  The purpose of the Statewide Week of Service is to encourage GAWL members, chapters, neighborhood networking breakfasts, mentoring circles, affinity groups, and leadership academy classes to participate in community-related projects in furtherance of the GAWL Foundation's mission of encouraging philanthropy by women lawyers in Georgia for the benefit of the greater community.  The GAWL Foundation is hosting several service opportunities, which can be found at: https://www.gawl.org/events/statewide-week-of-service.

GAWL Supreme Court Trip: Deadline to Submit Application


More Info: GAWL is pleased to announce that a group of GAWL members will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to be sworn in to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in open court on December 1, 2015. Judge Jill A. Pryor, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, will appear in Court and move for the admission of the group. Oral arguments will be heard after the admissions ceremony.

Foundation Grant Applications Due


More info: The GAWL Foundation Grants Committee is pleased to announce that it is currently soliciting grant applications from non-profit organizations. The Grants Committee evaluates applications for grants twice a year. Typically, GAWL Foundation grants range from $500 to $2000 and are best suited to smaller organizations that will benefit from grants of this scale. The Grants Committee will select grant recipients based on the guidelines below. While the guidelines are flexible, the Committee will give preference to organizations with missions that align with the following guidelines listed below in order of priority:
  1. Organizations that provide free legal services to disadvantaged women and girls.
  2. Organizations that provide free services to disadvantaged women and girls in the legal system.
  3. Organizations that provide free services to disadvantaged women and girls.​
