Justto reiterate, this has worked several times on other switches in this house. Another thing to note, even though it says, "This might take a few minutes", it goes to the error screen almost immediately (within less than 5 seconds). This makes me think it might actually be a problem with the app. If it were really searching for the switch, it wouldn't error out after 5 seconds. It almost seems like it's finding something, having an error, and going to this error screen very quickly, just with an unhelpful error message.

Just to add even though I listed the steps above. On the switches that do work, it will usually pop up a window with a TP-Link wifi and ask if I want to connect. I hit yes, and it says connection is successful. Then it asks me to select my home wifi. I do that, and it connects to that, and says it's complete. I just re-did this on a different switch, and it worked again, perfectly. I'm not sure what is wrong with either these two switches, or the app.

For error "Unable to Connect to Your Smart Switch Wi-Fi" occurs, please manually connect to Kasa_Smart Switch_ XX default SSID (smart device default SSID is an open Wi-Fi without Internet access, it will be gone after smart device successfully connected to router's Wi-Fi)

If the same issue, please share a photo of error, a photo showing phone is connected to Smart Plug WiFi at that time, and check what is IP address on your phone as guie here: How to find IP address on your devices?

I have tried both A11 and A21 phones from Boost Mobile, and neither is compatible with the new Smartthings app. Samsung tech support gave me wrong information on the A11 which I bought after returning the A21. Very frustrating. Does anyone have first hand experience with the Samsung A10e, LG K51 or LG Stylo 6?

I spent HOURS on the phone w Samsung, and FINALLY received the answer (from Samsung)! It DOES NOT work with the A21, They are aware of this and NO there are no plans to resolve it. Did they offer assistance as I recently had upgraded to the A21. NO THEY DID NOT. So we are just stuck with it not working.

I bought a samsung MIM-H04 ( kit wifi ) to manage my samsung air conditioners.

Play store tells me that smartthinks is not available for my cell phone.

Nowhere do they report which devices or versions of Android it works with.

I need the app for my cell phone with Android 7,

where can I download it? And if not, how do I use the wifi kit that I bought from you?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A8 phone (from 2018). I hadn't updated the Android OS since I got it until now. It was on Android 8. I was able to update it to Android 9, but no further. Since I know Samsung phones allow up to 4 Android version updates, I figure I should be able to get up to at least Android 10 (possibly 11). I had my phone set on automatic updates, but never received any.

I hadn't actually noticed the need to update the OS until recently, when a couple of apps wouldn't install because my Android version was out of date. Interesting that I went for 5 years without needing to update (I don't use my phone for much beyond calls/texts/telling time/camera, and a few productivity uses. I also still have tons of storage space), so that's not too bad. I guess I've had a good run.

Thanks, I realized that Samsung never promised 3 years of update.

But based on my experience with Samsung and iPhones. I am getting about 3 years on Samsung phones and 7 years updates on iPhones. Just so happens that I got a One UI 6.0 update on my Samsung S22 yesterday. I hope it will be 7 years on the S22 but I doubt, probably about 3 years.

to be honest, the a8 is a lower tier device and Samsung didn't support any higher versions above android 9. you can also invest in purchasing a refurbished Samsung s21 off of eBay for $270. and sell the a8 for $80-100

this is not a carrier issue, PM does not block any OS update. It is something you need to open ticket with Samsung. FYI, if the phone was bought outside of Canada/US , it could be the reason. Your phone might not be able to get OS update due to regional block on Samsung side

In trying to update my A32 5G the newest Android update the new one, A326USQU7AVB1 it will not update. After downloading the update it restarts and the android icon goes to 25% and says error and just boots to the current configuration. Is this anything I can fix? We have another A32 that updated perfectly.

Same here, mine updated and my husband's did not. Kept getting error at 25 percent and back to old version. I did a chat with tmobile this morning. They believe it is a technical issue and since the phone is under warranty, they are shipping a new one.

I went home and did the entire procedure recommended by RepairTech and it worked flawlessly. The only thing I would add is make sure that the cable is connected directly to your computer, not to a separate USB hub.

Smart Switch app Android is a utility of Samsung available on the newer Samsung Galaxy phones. The company has introduced an app for users to facilitate phone switching. When you purchase a new Samsung Galaxy phone, you can easily use Smart Switch to transfer data from your old phone to your new phone.

However, many people like the idea of convenient data transfer but are looking for Smart Switch alternatives. We have come up with the best alternatives for Smart Switch for Android users, iOS users, and macOS users. So let's get into it.

As mentioned earlier, Smart Switch for Android is a dedicated data transfer app Samsung has developed to facilitate Samsung users. Whether you want to switch from Android to Samsung, Samsung to Samsung, or iOS to Samsung, the Smart Switch app enables seamless data transfer. You can install Smart Switch and transfer data across devices if you have an Android device with Android version 4.0 or above.

Beginning with the first question on what we can transfer via this application. In contrast, we have already mentioned the data that can be moved from one device to another. We can include images, videos, contacts, call logs, text messages, applications, calendar events, etc.

You can transfer all types of images and videos; however, whether they play or not in the new device depends on the extensions compatible in Samsung Galaxy. This can be an issue specifically when you are transferring files from an iPhone or Mac. The file extensions of images and videos captured on an iOS or Mac device are different from the ones captured on an Android device.

If you are wondering, "can I transfer WhatsApp messages via the application," then the answer is no. Samsung Smart Switch does not allow you to transfer messages you have received in Whatsapp. You can, however, transfer the media files received on the app, but not the messages.

Smart Switch app for Android can be installed on any mobile device until and unless it is running on Android version 4.0 or above. It is okay to install the app on any Android device for data transfer until the target device is Samsung Galaxy.

As far as iPhone users are concerned, you can use the Smart Switch app to transfer from iPhone to Samsung, but it doesn't work the other way around. You can create a backup of your Samsung and restore it on your iPhone using your PC. But Smart Switch app Android can not directly transfer data from Samsung to iPhone.

The Samsung Smart switch application works in two ways, wireless and wired. The wireless transfer of data is powered by WiFi, where the user must connect both the phones via WiFi through the application and initiate the transfer of data.

Hence, the best way to transfer data from an existing smartphone to Samsung Galaxy is by using the wireless mode. The application has a built-in system wherein, after connecting the two devices, the person will be presented with the types of files and data that can be transferred from the application.

While the Samsung Smart Switch is a good solution, it is not an absolute one. There have been complaints about the Smart Switch transfer process where it gets stuck at a certain point and doesn't move ahead. At this time, we are forced to look at other options and try to compare Android file transfer vs. Samsung Smart Switch.

However, if the issue still exists, you have other easy solutions that provide the same level of security and accessibility and even with more features, please check the below list of the best Samsung Smart Switch alternatives.

AirDroid Personal is a go-to file transfer and management app with vast compatibility across operating systems and devices. Whether you want to transfer data from Android to iOS or vice versa, transfer data across PCs, or from PC to mobile, AirDroid Personal has all capabilities to do it.

Android File Transfer is an app by Google that enables data and file transfer from Android to PC or vice versa. The main purpose of Android File Transfer is to enable data transfer between macOS and Android. There was a gap due to limited apps to bridge the connection between Android and macOS. Android File Transfer has bridged the gap, and you can easily transfer multimedia files, documents, and other formats between Android and Mac computers/laptops.

MacDroid is similar to Android File Transfer as it is also an app that enables data transfer across Android devices and macOS. The main difference between MacDroid and Android File Transfer is that the former is not free and offers some additional features. Unlike most Smart Switch for Android apps, MacDroid allows folder transfer from macOS to Android and vice versa. The monthly fee for MacDroid is $1.67.
