1 This is just software, correct? Do I have to get it shipped - is it just the installation disks? Is there anything else with the package ? The shipping alone is more that the price in the link. One way would be if one can download the soft and just get the license key(s) emailed.
2 The version is outdated (at least a couple of major's?), so is it worth it? Is the included license only for v14, and the update to later (also student) versions not covered?
I believe would have to be shipped as it is a CD installation. There aren't actually any newer versions of Multisim as you can see on the National Instruments page for it: -us/support/downloads/software-products/download.multisim.html#312060. The latest version available is 14.2, which I believe we ship now, so perhaps it is possible that we can just email the appropriate serial number/activation code and you use it to appropriately activate the software after downloading it from NI's website. Whether or not that is worth it to you is more of a personal opinion so I won't be of much help in that regard.
NI does have Multisim Live now ( ) which has both a free and a paid version, though I'm not fully certain of the differences between the online version and the desktop (i.e. CD/downloaded version onto a PC). I do know that the online version does not interact with any physical hardware so it can be used as a standalone tool (as can the desktop versions, no physical hardware is required).
I must have dreamed that I saw version 16 as latest ... yesterday on their website. Sorry, probably had too many things looking at the same time, and may be confused LabView latest version number with multisim. Anyway.
The latest version 14.2 can just be downloaded from NI's website and not need a CD for installation. Otherwise yes, you will need a USB CD drive or an actual disk drive on your computer. I don't think any of the machines here at Digilent have a disk drive either, so it's been awkward for everybody. And if you do get a USB drive for it, maybe one day you'll watch an old DVD on your computer or upload an old music CD to a digital library, who knows.
The best way to make sure that the latest version is shipped would be to email our Sales team, sales at digilentinc dot com. My understanding from email threads that I have seen is that the latest version is shipped, but (for whatever reason) the associated pictures and description have not been updated.
i have first installed the multisim student version and uninstalled it.now i am unable to re install the program.i tried to resolve the problem by deleting the directory in program files.please help me to resolve the problem
This error usually occurs if there is a problem in the installer or there are traces of the software on the machine already. If you could answer the following questions I will try my best to help you out.
I suggest using an Administrator acount when installing Multisim software becuase the installer requires to write on some files during installation. To make sure there are not any traces of the software you can try the following.
1. Go to the Windows Add/Remove programs utility, look for "National Instruments Software" and click on the "Change/Remove" button, locate "Circuit Design Suite" and click the "Repair" button. If there is a corrupt file with Circuit Design Suite, hopefully, this will fix the problem and then you can run the setup again and hopefully, it will fix problem.
2. Please double check the size of the folder 11.0.2 folder in: C:\National Instruments Downloads\Circuit Design Suite\11.0.2. The size should be about 488 MB, if it's much smaller than that, it's could be that you downloaded the patch only and not the full installation.
im not sure if i posted this in the right spot. But, I am having problems trying to finish the download. I go to click on the desktop icon and it makes me unzip thhe files and whn its done i try to finish the download and it wont finish.
I am having trouble activating Multisim 14.0 (student edition) in my laptop. I bought Multisim 14.0 a few years ago for my old laptop, however I recently purchased a new laptop so I want to transfer Multisim from my old laptop to my new one. From my understanding, all I have to do is download Multisim 14.0 Student Edition in my new laptop, then activate it. Since I already purchased it in my old laptop, I should have no problems activating it in my new laptop. However, my problem is that whenever I try downloading Multisim 14.0, it always downloads Multisim 14.1 instead.
Upon following the download instructions, it always ends up downloading 14.1 instead. Since the software I bought was version 14.0, I cannot use its serial number to activate version 14.1. I am just wondering from where I can download 14.0. I have searched quite a few places but there are no options to download 14.0.
The first link says I am evaluating NI Circuit Design Suite Educational Edition and it sends you to this site. The Evaluation version is always the latest one which in this case would be the 14.1.
The second link says I am a current user of NI Circuit Design Suite Educational Edition and when you click it, the NI_Circuit_Design_Suite_14_0_Education.exe is downloaded. You should be able to install Multisim 14.0 Student Edition using this executable.
By the way, I hope that your new laptop doesn't have Windows 10 as the OS because as you can see in the same link you shared or the Readme file of this software, Multisim 14.0 is not supported on Windows 10.
The following list of software includes popular campus applications utilized by students and other academic constituents. Although it is recommended students download and install the following applications on their own computing devices, the new Virtual Software Lab service is also available as an alternative option in accessing student software if necessary. The following software is available for students to download and install on their personal computers. The campus cannot provide support for the installation or operation of the following software on personal equipment. Please contact your own computer support contacts or technical support businesses for personal computer assistance. Designing electric circuits is one of the most complicated disciplines of the electrical engineering field, and it's necessary to use very advanced software to be able to design the circuits properly and to be able to check if there aren't any problems in the design.
One of the most advanced programs of this field is NI Multisim, a program that has been designed with teachers, students and professional circuit designers in mind. It's a very good application, and it includes some of the most advanced tools in the field.
Furthermore, NI Multisim makes creating any kind of electrical circuit a simple process, with the possibility to add any element to the circuits, having a library with more than 4,000 objects, and a test system that activates and deactivates by means of a small switch.
Therefore, if you're an electrical engineering student and you want to have access to one of the best programs in the sector to create electrical circuits, download and install NI Multisim Student Edition on your computer.
Electrical Engineering is now offering a VDI environment to EE undergraduate students at University Park. VDI allows you access all software available in our teaching labs remotely from your apartment or dorm room, using your own PC. Simply visit and login with your PSU username and password. Availability is limited at this time, as there are only 30 concurrent connections. One requirement to use VDI is that you must increase the storage capacity of your PASS space. Instructions for increasing your PASS storage space, as well as some FAQs can be found here: Lastly, if there are any issues, questions, or concerns regarding the VDI environment, please contact eeits...@engr.psu.edu
