Windows Start menu is less used day by day. Bars or docks are appearing more and more day by day in all Windows based computers. They are very easy-to-use and give really fast access to all programs included in the dock.
Nexus Dock appears as a bar in the upper side of the screen and we can place any shortcut to any program or folder there. From that moment, you'll only have to click on the icon and the program will be ru or the folder will be opened. That's easy.
No, Nexus Dock does not affect your PC's performance. This program is designed to be efficient and have a minimal impact on your computer's performance. However, if you experience problems, you can adjust the performance and appearance settings in "Preferences".
This is fine but for what I want an icon bar if Windows 7 is going to have almost the same, it would be like repeated. If you have Windows XP or Vista install it but if you have Windows 7 it is not wo...See more

Hi, I have nexus Ultimate on w11 registered. On my dock the system tray expander does not work. When I check the properties of the icon it does not have anything in the Run box and I cannot edit it a tall except the icon. I have had this dock for a while and the tray expander was working but has stopped. I just did an update to 22.7. Any ideas.....
I'm new to mods on Stardew Valley and just installed SMAPI and Mono and I noticed my dock icon for the game has changed and not to the typical creature that other people have reported after installing SMAPI. Could anyone identify this for me? Thanks!
This new version has really impressed me. The settings are easy to navigate it took me 5 minutes to customise the dock to my liking, the live icon reflections have saved me hours of downloading and editing, and having the OSX(ish) background bundled with it has really saved me a lot of work. Not to mention it has the best support for Windows 7 than any other dock in this list.
Nexus dock worked perfectly with my system I had no performance issues with it at all, and it also had the live icon reflections and bundled backgrounds. It also came with some fairly good docklets. It is a powerful dock and should not be taken lightly.
Ok so the bad about this dock is that the settings are hard to navigate especially if you have never used a dock before. Also the load on the system at times can be heavy so its something you might want to avoid if you are using a netbook or slow computer.
XWindows Dock is a great alternate for those who are new to using docks on Windows. It has live icon reflections and easy ways to import skins and docklets, it also has great quality icons with live icon reflections. The graphics engine it uses is also very light on the system. The settings are easy to navigate.
However, it does not support minimising Windows to the dock, it does not have a reserve edge of screen feature. It also has not been updated in quite some time. So whether this project has been abandoned remains to be seen.
I am going to say all these docks have their good and bad points, personally I like using either ObjectDock or Nexus Dock. If you have any docks you would like to share please feel free to leave them in the comments.
As you will have gathered from the screen shot above, ObjectDock includes new Bundled backgrounds, one of which being an OSX background, which again is awesome as it saves searching, downloading and the messing around to get it working. You can also download more from WinCustomise if you wanted more backgrounds.
Overall StarDock have made very welcomed improvements to the dock. The live icon reflections work really well and the icon quality is amazing. However with new improvements there are new problems. Once such problem is that the dock when using the zoom effect it seems to slow the whole system down, and when minimising Windows to the Dock the minimise animation is slow and very laggy and impacts the performance of the whole system.
Again StarDock have kept good features for paid customers, honestly if your looking for most of the paid features for free then I recommend you get Nexus Dock. Its still stupid how they expect you to pay for this.
Envious of your Mac buddies with their cool-looking transparent Dock instead of the Start Menu? Nexus can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.Other operating systems: The latest Nexus version from 2024 is also available for Android. These are often available from the app store.
I disabled Force Touch and also had to press SHIFT down to move the icons. Hope this tip helps. After doing this, I've been able to move the icons after reenabling Force Touch and no longer needed to use the SHIFT key. Strange that others got it to work by pressing COMMAND since that did nothing for me.
leroydoouglas's solution isn't working for my new M1 pro that I got today too. I can easily drag and rearrange icons on my old air, but I just can't get the icons to move at all with the new M1 pro dock
I've always just clicked and held to drag also but it would not work with my new M1 MacBook Pro 14". I called Apple and I found out that I was not dragging fast enough after clicking and the Options/Show Recents/Open window would open.
I opened up the System Preferences > Dock, clicked on Magnification (it had been disabled), and verified that the icons got bigger as the mouse moved over them. Afterward, I could rearrange the Dock without issues. Then, I disabled Magnification and retained the ability to move icons in the Dock.
Winstep Nexus is a very cool software package with which you can add a Mac-style Dock to Windows, from XP to 11. That software has both freeware and paid versions. The freeware package retains all the animated mouse and live icon effects from Nexus Ultimate. Here is how you can install the freeware Winstep Nexus:
Click Find Item to select a program to include on the Dock. You can also select a Hotkey option there to assign a keyboard shortcut to the program. Click OK to add the software shortcut.
That tab includes options for mouseover, launch, attention, and delete effects. Click an effect there to choose from a wide variety of alternative ones. You can further configure selected effects by clicking the Effect settings button.
WinStep Nexus Dock also includes a variety of different themes. To select an alternative theme, click the Themes tab. Choose a different theme on that tab, and click Apply to save the new settings.
If you want to include minimized windows on the Winstep Nexus Dock, select the Content tab in the Preferences window. Click the Show running applications in this dock checkbox there, which will also select the Minimize windows to the dock option. Select Apply to confirm the new options.
RocketDock is positioned at top of the desktop by default. You can change its position much the same as WinStep Nexus Dock by right-clicking RocketDock and selecting Screen Position. Then choose Top, Left, Bottom, Right on the submenu.
To add software shortcuts to RocketDock, right-click the dock and select Add item and File. Select a program or other file within the Open window. Press the Open button to add the item. You can always remove shortcuts you add by right-clicking them and selecting Delete items.
