As a Gator season ticket holder in all sports, and having seats on row 6 directly above 1st base on the direct view to 2nd and a fantastic view of the plate for a few decades, I welcomed the change in coaching staffs.
McMahon didn’t need to go, but the pitching coach, Jones, certainly did. His failure to address the problems of “John’s surgery ‘U’,” according to many SEC baseball players, alone earned the firing. If McMahon had done some firing of his own, he would still be coaching at UF.
JMO. To hell with humility. Right’s right and wrong’s wrong. Only Helen and God know the difference anyway.

Subject: [gatornews] Augenstein

Despite
being drafted in seventh round by the Arizona Diamondbacks, UF pitcher Bryan Augenstein is considering
returning for his senior season to play for new coach Kevin O'Sullivan.

Bryan Augenstein is torn.
On the one hand, the Gators' right-handed pitcher is ready to start his
professional baseball career. On the other, he wants to return to Florida for his senior season and play for
new coach Kevin O'Sullivan, who recruited Augenstein out of high school.
"Some days I wake up and I want to go back to college," Augenstein
said. "And some days I want to go to pro ball. It's up and down."
Augenstein's final decision could come this week. The 6-foot-5 ace of the
Gators' pitching staff is currently negotiating with the Arizona Diamondbacks,
who drafted him in the seventh round of last month's Major League Baseball
draft.
Augenstein said his goal has always been to play pro baseball. But after
slipping to the seventh round of the draft, he is considering a return to Florida.
"It's been tough just because I was expecting more from the draft,"
he said. "Now with Coach
O'Sullivan there, we're pretty good friends. Coming back to Florida would be a plus, too."
Augenstein has been the centerpiece of Florida's pitching staff over the last two seasons, winning
17 games in that span. Augenstein struggled early in the 2007 season, but
finished in a flurry. He won his last four decisions, registering a 1.65 ERA
with 34 strikeouts and two walks over 32 2/3 innings.
