Previously, when launching Drive Mode Launcher as a PIP app from certain head unit launchers (home screens), Google Maps would open in full-screen mode. Even after closing it and trying to return to the launcher, Google Maps would repeatedly reopen in full-screen mode. I understand this issue occurs when the launcher’s PIP implementation is faulty. Some launchers work correctly, while others do not.
I discovered that by adding a transparent screen to Drive Mode Launcher and launching Google Maps after a 2-second delay, while showing the transparent screen until Google Maps starts, it becomes possible to launch Google Maps directly inside the PIP window when Drive Mode Launcher is started as a PIP app from the launcher screen.
When Drive Mode Launcher is launched from the app drawer or via a shortcut intended for full-screen launch, Google Maps should start in full-screen mode. This behavior is the same as with launchers that do not support PIP.
This fix was implemented in Ver.1.5 and Ver.1.6. However, I found that in some environments Google Maps did not start correctly in Ver.1.5, so I fixed the issue and released Ver.1.6.
I have confirmed that this works correctly with the PIP-compatible launchers I tested. However, I have not tested all PIP-compatible launchers. If you experience any issues, please let me know.
Ver.1.5 was once released as an open test version and then withdrawn, but some users may have already updated to it. Please update to Ver.1.6. I apologize for the inconvenience.
