Gateway JUG Members and Supporters:

I've had several regularly attending members indicate they will not make it to our November 6th Gateway JUG meeting because of the elections. To which I replied, "What election?" :-)

Some said they vote after work, so would not make it. Others said they just want to follow the returns. A few said they have campaign victory parties to attend.

Also, it was pointed out to me that next week is one of those slightly rare calendar flukes where the 1st Tuesday of the month is in the same week as the 2nd Thursday. The St. Louis Java User Group (the other Java group in town) meets on the 2nd Thursday.  So some Java folks said they'd miss our meeting because of the election and because they had a fallback of the St. Louis Java Group. To which I replied, "Heretic!" :-)

Of course, I didn't really say that. I encourage everyone to attend both meetings. Mark Volkmann, Jeff Brown et al have served our Java community well for a long time. In fact, we intentionally try not to cover the same topic area the same month as our colleagues over at the STLJUG precisely so folks can get a double dose of Java knowledge every month.

So the confluence of election and calendar events threatens to make the November 6th meeting very lightly attended. Before deciding to cancel it outright, I thought I'd solicit your view about whether we should cancel it and push our November topic, "Make A Better Web App With Twitter Boostrap", to our December 4th meeting. Of course, the Gateway Groovy Users Group will also be pushed to December.

Here is a link to a 2 question survey about whether you would like to see the November 6th Gateway JUG meeting be canceled on Election Day 2012 and the topic pushed to December:

Let me know what you think.  I'll close the poll at 3pm this afternoon (Thursday, Nov 1st) and then send out an announcement about the November 6th meeting status.
