I am pleased to announce that a Code Retreat event will be held on
Saturday, September 18 at the Microsoft offices in Creve Coeur. Code
Retreat is an event for software developers interested in improving
their craft by collaborating with other developers while practicing
programming techniques in a fun and focused activity. This is an all-
day event during which programmers will form groups of two or more to
solve a novel problem: Conway's Game of Life.

The idea for this event came from Corey Haines' experience traveling
the country and working with many development shops, trading insights
and techniques he had picked up from working with other developers and
learning what he could from shops that hosted him. You can read more
about his travels and the Code Retreats Corey has hosted here (http://
coderetreat.com).

This code retreat will take place at the Microsoft office in Creve
Coeur (follow the ticket link below for address and map). Seating is
limited. Developers attending this code retreat should bring their
own laptops (the location for the event will not provide computers).
Breakfast (coffee and pastries from Provisions sponsored by Oasis
Digital) and lunch (buffet from Mayuri sponsored by Object Computing,
Inc.) will be provided.

This event is open to programmers from all backgrounds. Past code
retreats have used Java or Ruby as the implementation language for
solving the Game of Life exercise. Developers attending this event are
welcome to use whatever language they prefer as long as their
collaborators have sufficient proficiency to actively participate.

Please reserve your free ticket at: http://coderetreatstl.eventbrite.com
