Here are the notes from our prayer session:-more of God's Holy Spririt-raising up the babies in the church to be the next generation of Christians-our friends who live outside - how to love them now that we don't have a specific ministry-little things add up to big things-that God would develop in us more of a hungry heart-our relationship with Lindbergh - how can we love and expand His kingdom there-conflict in Syria-recognizing who God is- His sovereignty-see God's kingdom come - lives healed, blind see-God calling us to steps of faith, taking risks-conversations about God in our workplaces-how to help our neighbors throughout San Diego
We delved a bit into thinking about what was on our heart and/or God's heart during last week's prayer session. People were asked to write down what came to mind during the time given and place them on the table for all to see. Here's what was written.
*fulfillment of God's promises
*comfort and attention to the poor in Spirt
*brokenness healed, hope and lives restored
*release from the bondage of addictions
*people in the neighborhood falling in love with Jesus and each other
*financial freedom
*descending peace of God
*Psalm 68:6 "God sets the lonely in familiar"
* I Corinthians"For even as the body is one and yet has many members and all the members of the body though they are many are one body, so also is Christ for by one Spirit were were all baptized into the body..... (continues) 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
*Ephesians 4:12 "equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we reach unity in the faith in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
*Fresh grace to surrender desperate/broken/challenging situations to God--that he would make them new.
*prayer for our community to have bold active & risky faith such that we help advance the kingdom of God
*structures, systems, and the Spirit to equip the body for ministry and healthy church life.
*fresh pouring out of the Holy Spirt on our community
*collaboration with other churches to help our communities needs.
*to know God and act in spiritual boldness
*DEEP calls to DEEP
We then looked at the cards on the table and pondered a bit more. Here's what came up in the following conversation.
*pray to trust more ruthlessly
*pray more for your kingdom come your will be done
*a collective desire for God to meet us in a real, tangible way
*align our will more with His will
*desire to break through any darkness in the neighborhood with an excitement to help people see hope in Jesus
*a desire to see more of the reason why we are in Clairemont ("I believe we are there for a reason but it is not real clear")
*hearts for expanding connections beyond Clairemont in the Hillcrest/City Heights/ Mission Valley region as well as the North.
*a vision of two lines of people staring at each other, noticing each other, but not doing anything. One line of people is broken and crying out desperate for God. The other line wanting to reach out but not feeling confident on how to meet the other line of people's needs. Desire for the Holy Spirit to empower both sides to reach out in boldness and CONNECT (hand to hand) in a way that fills each with a tangible sense of God's presence. Also felt (this is me) that those in the line desiring boldness needed to have their other hand firmly taking hold and strength from the outstretched hands to members within the body of Christ. Powerful connections and confidence in Christ in us and his compassion and love for others. Really have a strong sense that a greater sense of unity in the body is needed and that the church as a whole (more than individuals) will move forward in discipleship as an entity.
