Hi Deepa,

I received a mail 5 days back stating that they have started processing the I20 forms now and requesting me to send the financial documents asap. The amount was $44,537. You might as well send the documents or at least keep them ready.

Akshay.

Hey Akshay,
Whom did you get the mail from?
Did you send any mail to graduate admissions prior to that or did they
ask for it..

Hi Akshay. Are you MS CS or Information Security? I think the I20 for MS CS costs way more... It was in a post in Gatech Fall 2010 groups in FB

Hi

I got a mail a week back asking me to send documents required for I-20
processing as soon as possible. I have sent the documents but haven't
heard anything after that.

@ Surya
Unless my information is wrong, this year the I-20 amount for both
Info. Sec & CS is $44537.

Hi All,

I am from MS CS  and my documents have reached; I got another mail regarding the financial documents that I had sent (which included a solvency certificate from a bank and a letter of support from sponsors). The mail said that the solvency certificate CANNOT be used. In fact, it said "Anything that indicates “solvent to the extent of” is NOT an acceptable proof of support". They want a certification from the bank indicating who the account holder is, account type, present value in the local currency & if the account has a maturity date, the current value available for withdrawal).

I had also sent the attested photocopies of the FDs and PPF accounts, which also are not valid.

That is all the mail said. Does anybody have an idea what exactly do we have to send?

Regards,
Akshay.

I sent a bank statement of an account with the holder's name (my dad), the current amount in Rs and equivalent dollars, account number etc.... and an affidavit of support that says my dad will support me by providing the money for fees and living...

Hi,

Refer to attached document. I think this will suffice. Found it on Edulix. I haven't sent mine yet.

I also second whatever Akshay said regarding I20 amount. I received a similar email from Alan Glass.

@Akshay sathe

you actually need to send bank certificates indicating the person in whose name the account is opened, the current balance in his/her account. if the account is a fixed deposit one than you need to mention the maturity date of the same, the amount available to you after maturity as well as how much money can you withdraw if you break it on the date when the bank issues you the certificate.

For savings account you just need to mention the amount available in the account.

Atleast I did this , according to me all this information is needed by the visa officer before issuing a visa so that he can ensure that the applicant is finacially stable and can pay the university fees.

however gatech wants to have a look at this before sending the I-20 forms. Badi university bade nakhare.

If you still have doubts you can wait for a response from other members
Kalpesh.

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies.

In my case the funds are present in 3 different banks, not in just one and at the moment it isn't possible to transfer them into a single bank. So, I am planning to send the bank statements from the all 3 banks, with all the details Kalpesh has mentioned.

Regards,
Akshay.

Just make sure that the date on all the bank statements is the same.

Hi Vikram,

The mail I received said that the FD receipts I had sent were not usable. However, it did not say why.
The maturity dates for all were in Nov 2010 or later, but certainly not before; although I do not think that was the reason why they were not usable. They needed a bank statement with all the details I mentioned in the previous mail. I believe nothing else is acceptable to them.

Akshay.
