In 2016, can i use results of gate 2015?

I have scored 46.29 out of 100 with score 639 and rank 1272. Suppose in 2016 I give another exam in GATE-2016 and score less than this year's score; Can I still able to use the results of 2015?
Please share any information regarding this if you have.
