Hello chess.com developers and support staff. I have a fully updated iphone 8 and I cannot get passed the loading screen. I was able to get in last week but this week I cannot get in. I have shut the app down, I have powered off and on my phone but I'm still not able to get into the app.
I can't figure out how to save a game. I play primarily on a iphone and against the computer. Sometimes the games are interesting and I want to save them. I found that after the game is over and I've done the analysis, I can hit an options button, and "Save PGN" . Nothing happens. I don't see the saved game anywhere in the Chess.com app. And my "Files" folder on my iphone doesn't contain any PGN files.
Thanks. I downloaded this, but still can't figure out how to save a game from Chess.com app on my iphone6. I select "Copy PGN" but nothing happens. Or how do I get the PGN from Chess.com app over to the Analyze This app? Here's a screenshot.
I figured out how to save the PGN file to my iphone's "Files" folder. When you click "Copy PGN" it goes to a clipboard. I didn't know that. So in "Files" you hold a finger down and "paste" it in there. It named itself "text". It has a list of the moves, and above that a bunch of information about the game, who played it, etc. It is a ".txt" file, so maybe this is a problem.
I downloaded a Steinitz classic game on my PC, dragged the pgn file into Notepad, made some minor changes, saved it with .pgn at the end and (not as .txt, but "all file type"). Then emailed to my iphone. opened the email and the attachment and shared it with Analyze This app, and it worked. I could open it.
It will be very time consuming, but I think I could edit the Steinitz game with my moves. The format the iphone uses to save the game doesn't work. Two things I noticed was the Steinitz game had word wrap on the moves, but the word wrap no longer works, whereas my save the moves extended all in one line. And there's 2 spaces after the move on the Steinitz game, and one space on my save. ie. 1. e4 e5 versus 1. e4 e5
If you're with a friend in person and want to play chess together, but don't have a board, don't worry! As long as you have the Chess.com app on your mobile device, you can play right there on the digital board!
OP, you need to reset your network on your Iphone, google it if you don't know how, then try uninstall/reinstall of chess app. Then also, how about spend 30 min. removing all the apps you never use but once in a Blue Moon.
You are welcome, thank you for letting us know all is well. Good on you for not loading your phone down with apps. Hey maybe if I help enough people, chess.com will hire me on to the staff, then I can quit bagging groceries. Can I add you to my list of references?
Surfing through the previous threads on PGN viewers for iPhones, I haven't seen anything concrete, except the suggestion of an app called "tchess." (Feel free to remark on that app, if you've experienced it.)
Shredder, the most successful chess program ever, is now also available for the Apple iPhone. You can play against Shredder, analyse with him and solve chess puzzles. It offers the usual Shredder standard for your pocket.
I've been using the chess.com app on my iPhone, but recently it just froze on my game list screen and will not let me select or go to any other part of the application. I still get notifications everytime other players make moves, but when I re-enter the app I'm still stuck in refreshing the same gamelist screen.
When my chess app froze on me, I found a simple fix that worked like a charm. Instead of reinstalling the app right away, try force-closing it first. On an iPhone, you can do this by double-clicking the home button and swiping up on the app's preview. Then relaunch the app, and voila! If that doesn't work, a reinstall might be worth a shot. Hope this helps! Also, I stumbled upon some helpful solutions for various app problems on Android Guides . Check it out!
The millennia-old pastime of chess has been enjoying an explosion of interest. Whether people are longing for any engaging hobby to keep themselves sane during the long wait, or they fell prey to a popular Netflix drama about a chess prodigy, competition is heating up. While games using a physical board will have to wait a bit longer for most of us, there are excellent online chess platforms and a healthy chess community available in a few clicks or thumb taps.
Hi there, does anyone know of an accessible chess app? i want to start playing chess. Does anyone use voiceover to play chess on an iphone? How does it work? Also does anyone know of any good chess boards for the blind? I have a board where the pieces fit into wholes in the board, but I find that they come out too easily.
ChessWise is another good chess software if you want to multiplay.
If you're looking for a web browser version, Lichess.org is pretty great for learning the game, watching live games, playing games. They even use the stockfish engine as well, so it's worth checking it out.
Quinton C playroom also has a chess table where you can play other people.
HTH
Also i am interested in how to make multiplayer games (in this case 2 player chess based game). Is there any easy to use servers or i have to implement my own server side game logic and deploy it on my application server.
Definitely take a look at Stockfish Chess. It's a chess engine, not a game itself. The repository is located @ Github - StockFish. I haven't developed for Iphone, but it seems they have an app in the Apple Store. I've been playing around with it and it's pretty awesome.
The cute and colorful theme of this iOS chess game makes it stand apart from the rest. You can play free online games with live players, undertake chess quests, unlock cute characters, emojis, chess boards, and sets.
This has great ability to train you for tactics, strategy and endgame. I teach a few people how to play chess well and this method seems to be very helpful. If you want to get to a decent level fast- focus on tactics, then strategy, then endgame and at the end opening.
By the way, chessimo is really good but I don't think it has a free version, or it is just a demo; to get the full version you have to pay, but it is really good, it was the first Tactics trainer app I used.
You may choose your course in the apps linked above, they include 90+ chess courses. Each course has a free part, so there are thousands of free puzzles in total. If you'll fall in love with one of the courses, you may purchase the full version ;).
I know there are already a lot of answers here, but one that isn't mentioned is the Chess24 app. I really like the tactics trainer from the app and find that for the money it is a better value than others I've seen. (Should still be $20 for 1yr of unlimited tactics.) There are also great apps for iOS at least that allow you to read chess books and follow along with a chessboard like Forward Chess or e+books Chess. I have found this to be incredibly helpful in studying.
It's a chess-based platform game - not a pure chess game but a platform game featuring the standard chess pieces which are used to cross a burning board filled with enemy pieces. You have the option of highlighting squares that your pieces can move to so it's a good way of learning the moves. It's also fast-paced so will help with speed chess.
Casual play: I strongly suggest the Chess.com app. You have a few additional tactics problems, but the interesting thing is the correspondence and live chess, playing whenever you feel.
