Activation codes
Posted by Sonny - 04 Jan 10:04PM Hide picture On Jan 4, 2018 I ordered and paid for Sibelius 8.7.2 Upgrade. I received an email confirming the order # 6495858 with a Redemption link. I followed the link and it asked me to enter a code and further said: " Look up the code on your activation card". I have no activation card. Where do I find it? I am unable to download or do anything. It seems as if I am stuck and require some serious help. Since I have paid for the product I would like to start using it. Please advise. Hi Sonny!

Your license codes can now be accessed in your My Avid Account under "My Products and Subscriptions" .

Thanks so very much for your help with this. I guess the problem was that I didn't receive an email with those codes but I did what you directed and everything worked just fine! I am now fully activated! Thanks again for your prompt response and help and I wish you a very pleasant day!

Sib. 7.1: How to change time code position and format
Posted by fusa - 10 Sep 01:19PM Hide picture How can I change the vertical position of the time code and its font size?
I tried to edit the text style, but the time code text keeps its format, and doesn't react, even if I set the text color to red to test it.
The time code window allows me to choose the bottom line as position of the time code, but the auto set distance is so huge that it causes collisions with the next system.

I want use time code instead of bar numbers, it should be written under every bar in a small font and look like small bar numbers.
I hope I don't have to do them all by hand, for I see no reason why time code format should be locked. Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.1: How to change time code position and format
Posted by Daniel Spreadbury - 10 Sep 03:48PM Hide picture You can edit the vertical position of timecode by editing the settings in Appearance > Design and Position > Default Positions, choosing the 'Timecode' text style. You specify which staff the timecode should appear on in the Play > Video > Timecode dialog.

Posted by Daniel Spreadbury - 10 Sep 07:25PM Hide picture You should find that changing the default colour for the Timecode text style in Edit Text Style works fine (though I have not tried it myself).

I just ran into this problem, a few days ago. I followed the fix recommended here and it worked. After AppMgr started functioning normally, when I started MC 8.2 I simply had to re-select my activation mode (I'm still using the dongle) and everything was back to normal. For software activation, you might have to first de-activate the license, then re-select activation when MC first starts after fixing the error code 5 issue.

I am having this exact problem and none of the proposed solutions are working. Have tried the recommended fix to the PACE service which worked for a while. When I did the delete files fix it let me reactivate as a temp license (should be permanent) and then immediately gave me error code 5 again. In addition, I find it impossible to contact anyone at Avid to help with this.

Sib. 5.x: Instrument Names on parts
Posted by Jeff Solon - 08 Feb 11:06PM Hide picture I've spent to much time searching, so I have to ask if someone can help me.
The instrument names on my parts are not showing up on the first page of the part or on any of the following pages.
The part names are at the beginning of the score.
Can someone shed some light on how to get the names of the instruments on the parts pages.
thanks

Until something better comes along you can try to re-establish the Part Name via the Wildcards text code.

right click to bring up the create menu. . . >Text >Special Text >Instrument names top left.

(from here you can clink anywhere on the page and the cursor will position itself properly).

Type in this. . . \$Partname\ and left click to finish.

I think that this should get all of the Part Names to display again, on each of the individual parts.

** See reference manual section 3.10 for more info on wildcards text code.

Take Care,

Jim

Posted by Jeff Solon - 09 Feb 04:40AM Hide picture Thanks, that works fine, but how about the next pages.
Usually the part names are there as I build the score. 2 pages on has the part in the top center of the page. Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 5.x: Instrument Names on parts
Posted by Jim Druckenmiller - 09 Feb 05:04AM (edited 09 Feb 05:41AM) Hide picture Try this. . .

>Create >Text >Other System Text >Header (After First Page)

Type in. . . \$Headerpartname\

* I think that you have to do this on the first page of the Part. Because it looks like it automatically hides on the page it's placed on, and the subsequent pages are the ones that show the instrument names.

Sib. 7.5: How to re-set time code in sections of music
Posted by amybalcomb - 29 Apr 03:06PM Hide picture I'm writing a multi-section, long piece of music but need to know how long each section of music is.

Therefore, my question is - how do I reset the time code part-way through listening to the score? Obviously, it tells me progressively how many minutes and seconds into the piece a particular section is (as well as the start and finish time), but is there a marker setting for the time code that would then enable me to take a total running time between said markers? If you want help with a score, attach the sib file! Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.5: How to re-set time code in sections of music
Posted by amybalcomb - 29 Apr 03:29PM Hide picture Yes I've tried that, Laurence, but of course I have to remember the 60 seconds = 1 minute rule....and after a while this becomes complicated.

Plus when I tried this, the individual section durations that I had calculated didn't total the end time on the code on Sibelius. There has to be a way....surely....just like when you mark a section for 'real time' record.....yes? no? !!!! Back to top Allthreads Re: Sib. 7.5: How to re-set time code in sections of music
Posted by Robin Walker - 29 Apr 03:42PM Hide picture I suggest that you inset Hit Points at the beginning and at the end of the piece you are interested in, and then subtract the first hit-point time from the second hit-point time.

Posted by Bob Zawalich - 29 Apr 03:58PM (edited 29 Apr 04:04PM) Hide picture There is no way to do what you ask in Sibelius.

The downloadable Timing For Selection plugin (category Composing Tools) will display the time between the start and end of a selection.

It is not nearly as convenient as having a time code visible starting for a specific time point, but it does show the duration of a selection.

See screenshot for details.

It might be useful to have something that could display the time between adjacent hitpoints so you could set up pair of hitpoints and get the duration easily.

Having a timecode reset would have to be done by Avid in Sibelius itself.

Posted by Bob Zawalich - 29 Apr 08:11PM Hide picture You need to install it. In Sib 7.x, go to File > Plugins > Install Plugins. When the list come up choose Show > All Plugins, then go to Composing Tools to find the plugin. You can choose which folder it will go into on your machine; by default it will go into Composing Tools.

I usually find a plugin using the Find In Ribbon box (or run the Run Plugins By Name plugin), but I think Notation> Plugins >Composing Tools is where you will find it on the Ribbon.
