Agree with most of the points raised by Mona. The allotments and the garden have huge potential. Personally I think the whole area behind the block could work along the lines of similar sized community gardens such as http://www.khwgarden.org.uk/ and http://oldengarden.org/ if we had the time and resources to organise it.
I think the second priority after assigning new plot holders should be to make some progress on the bin situation. Though I have not used my plot this season, I have visited a few times and noticed that migrating rubbish from the bin area (razors, glass, other grim stuff) is still a menace and can put a downer on what should be a pleasant experience. Hackney council need to be continually hassled about this if it is to improve.
As I have not used my plot this year I think ill give it up for a new holder but please keep me in the group - I would be keen to help with any future developments if there are any.
Good luck
Marco
Hi Josette,
I'd like to give this one last go before I give up, and hopefully now that my kids are a bit older and in nursery and school, I'll have more time to keep things alive. I'm in plot 3 (third from the end wall, with little stepping stones in it).
Thanks--
